Her and I

Chapter 3

After school I rushed to my locker to grab my stuff trying to avoid Amy and Ethan. I managed to get out without seeing them. I grab my headphones out of my bag and put them around my neck. I walk to the park at the end of the block my mom use to take me to when I was younger. Now I just go there to be by myself and listen to my music as loud as possible. I reach the park and walk toward swings. As I walk a long, blonde haired girl bumps into me.

  “I am so so sorry!” she says looking down. This girl looks kinda formilla.

   “Nowell?” She looks up,her green eyes sparkling in the sunlight.

    “Damian?” she smiles

    “Damian!” she hugs me tight. Nowell is my old friend from kindergarten,but she moved away in the middle of 5th grade. I remember the day before she left we spent all day together till the very last moment. She hugged me and got in the car. I stood there crying watching her leave. She was my best friend,my only friend. My eyes start to water. Her smile fades.

     “Damian,what’s wrong?” I shake my head.

     “It’s nothing,I just missed you so very much” She smiles and hugs me.

     “I’ve missed you too” I smile and hug he back. She looks up,her cheeks tinted pink.

      “Nowell,do you want to come over? My mom proply wants to see you...and I just want to spent time with you.” She smiles and noddes.

     “I’d love to!” I smile at her excitement. That’s one of the reasons Nowell and I were friends,another reason was because she gave me some of her snake at the beginning kindergarten. We start to walk to my house. As we reach my house she runs to the door and stands there waiting for me to unlock the door. As I open the door she runs in and smiles.

     “Second mother I’m back after 3 years” she yells smiling from the doorway. My mom comes out of the kitchen  with a confused face.

     “Nowell?” she starts to walk over towards Nowell. Nowell smiles and hugs my mom. My mom smiles and hugs back. As an idiot,I put my bag down and join the hug. Nowell giggles and puts her other arm around me. I smile and after a minute or two I let go and so does Nowell. My mom smiles and looks at Nowell.

             “I missed you! We’ve both missed you” she smiles.

              “You should stay for dinner!” My mom says with excitement. Nowell smiles and nods.

              “I’d love to!” she smiles and hugs my mom. After she lets go of my mom,she takes out her phone to text her mom. When she’s done she puts her phone in her pocket. She looks at the floor lost in thought. Before I tap her she jumps up scaring me.

              “Sorry,I didn’t mean to scare you,but random question do you still have that trampoline in your backyard?” I giggle and nod.

              “Yeah,but I haven’t been on cents you’ve moved” her face lights up as I say that. She runs to the back door and goes outside. I follow her as she goes outside and as I walk outside she grabs my hand and runs to the trampoline. To be honest when I’m with her I feel like I’m in a Disney movie. She stops and lets go of my hand and takes off her shoes. She looks at me and smiles then gets on the trampoline. She still acts like when we were younger. She still has the same personality she did in 1st grade and the same beaded necklace with her name on it I made for her in art class. I smile knowing she’s the same person I knew when we were kids. I lay on the trampoline and look at the sky. After a couple of minutes she lays beside me. I turn my head to look at her. She looks at me her cheeks tinted a rosey pink her smile as white as snow. I feel my cheeks heat up and hide my face in my hands. She giggles and tries to move my hands,but they stay on my face. After a minute she gives up and looks at the sky. I move my hands and stand up. I smile and look at Nowell trying to get her up. Nowell gets up and takes out her phone. She goes to her camera and looks at me.

            “SMILE!” she says with excitement and she takes a picture. After she takes a picture she sets it as her background. I smile and look at her, her blonde hair flowing in the wind,her eyes sparkling in the sunlight making her eyes look like a just shaped emerald. She smiles and starts to jump. I smile and jump along with her. After a few minutes my mom comes out and calls us in for dinner like we were 5 again. She smiles,jumps off the trampoline and grabs her shoes. I smile and follow her inside. As we walk in my mom smiles and sets are plates on the table. Nowell sits down in the same char she sat in when we were younger. I smile and sit next to her. She smiles and picks up her fork as she begins to eat my food is already gone. She looks at me with a surprised face.

   “Dang Damian,how did you eat that so fast?!” I smile.

     “I don’t know I just guess I was hungry” she giggles and after a few minutes she finishes her food.

   “Thanks Ms.Andrews” my mom smiles and hugs Nowell. Nowell hugs back and smiles. My mom lets go and smiles. Nowell smiles and comes and hugs me. I smile and she kisses my cheek. I blush and hide my face in my hands. She giggles and waves before walking over to the door and leaving. I run up to my room and hide my face in my pillow. I look up “I think I finally got over Amy,” I smile and pull out my phone to text Nowell. I go to her number and text ‘Soooo….what was that kiss for??’ I press send and put on my headphones and play my music. After awhile I start to drift off to sleep…
