Chapter 1

Light shone through the large bay windows of the Cullen household. I sat up in the large bed that Edward had bought for me when I started to stay at the Cullen home more often. I had whined endlessly, telling Edward it wasn't necessary. He simply stated that he wanted me to be comfortable, and purchased it anyway. Yawning, I immediately noticed the lack of Edward's presence. My eyes floated around the room, falling on a note left on the nightstand.

Bella,

It read in Edward's elegant script,

I apologize that I can't be there with you when you awake, but Alice insists that the family go to hunt. Apparently she sees good game. Rosalie is out shopping, and I know she may not love the idea, but if you need anything she will get to you the quickest. Her number is already in your phone, as Alice saw me writing this. Esme left you breakfast in the kitchen. I will miss you endlessly until I return.

I love you,

Edward

I hugged the note close to me, and shamelessly gave it a kiss. I carefully set it down, making sure that it didn't wrinkle. I crawled out of bed and slipped on some clothes that Alice seemed to have left out for me. I went into the bathroom, and brushed my hair and teeth. I did a quick once-over, and headed down the stairs.

Cereal and an apple was left out on the kitchen counter, and I took them to my seat at the table. I took a bite of the fresh fruit and thought of Edward. I missed him.

I was broken out of my thoughts by someone opening the door and slamming it. Startled, I dropped my spoon onto the floor. I barely had time to recognize the figure as Rosalie before she flew up the stairs. I picked up my spoon from the floor, placing it in the sink, and then rushed up the stairs as fast as my clumsy frame allowed. I followed the faint sound of sobbing to Rosalie and Emmett's room.

I pushed the door open, and took in my surroundings. I had never been in their room before, and it was surprisingly normal. There was a large bed, and a connected bathroom. There was also another door in the room which I assumed to be a walk-in closet. The most surprising part of the room, however, was strong, icy, beautiful Rosalie, dry-sobbing on the designer carpet.

"R-Rosalie?" I whispered, trying and failing to mask my surprise.

"Leave. Leave right now!" She stated harshly, but her voice cracked.

"No... no I won't. You need to talk to someone," I soothed lovingly.

"Shut up! Just... shut up..." she trailed off, breaking down.

"Oh, Rosalie," I murmured thickly. I took my chances, and went up to her. I sat behind her and wrapped my arms around her sobbing frame. She didn't say anything, and leaned into me. I ran my fingers through her silky hair. She didn't need to be treated like an adult right now. She needed someone to lean on. Someone who would just listen without commenting. She shocked me by laying down with her head in my lap in a fetal position. I stroked her hair and caressed her face, with nothing more than the intention of comfort. Slowly, but surely her sobbing slowed, and she shook less.

Once she had calmed down, I knew she was embarrassed. She weakly tried to pull away, barley moving me.

"Shh... it's ok Rose," adopting her nickname, that I had never felt aloud to use.

"I-I want to talk about it," she croaked so quietly I almost didn't here her.

"Alright... I'm here to listen," I whispered.

"In-In order for you to understand, though, I have to tell you my story," she inhaled, and continued. "I was young, and stupid. I had always gotten everything that I wanted. I was engaged to a man that went by the name of Royce King. I thought he was perfect. He had lots of money, and everyone always looked at me with envy. I loved their jealous looks when they saw how perfect my life was. The perfect body, the perfect man, everything that made my life 'perfect'. Everyone except my best friend Vera. She was with her own husband, and had a son. His name was Henry. I was never jealous of anyone, but I was jealous of Vera. I wished for children. I was leaving her house one night, too late. Much later than I had anticipated. Royce was there." She took a moment to look at me. I kept my face kind, I knew she didn't want my sympathy. "He was with his friends. He called me over. I remember him bragging about me to his friends. It wish I could say it was all a blur, but I remember everything. The way he grabbed me, leaving a bruise. The way he ripped off my jacket. I remember everything as he raped me and left me to die. It was then that Carlisle found me." She swallowed thickly. I pulled her in tenderly for another hug.

"If you ever need to talk about it, I'm here for you Rosalie," I comforted.

"Thank you Bella. That means more than you will ever know. Also, please, call me Rose," she spoke, her eyes shining with emotion. "What happened today, was I was shopping and I saw someone... he-he looked like him," her eyes we wide. "I started to remember everything, and I couldn't take it. I ran here... I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't been here and talked to me."

"I've never talked to you much Rosalie, but I do love you. You're like the older sister I always wished I had," I implored. "You make me feel safe." Rosalie held me close.

"I can't have kids, so I've always just wanted to be there for someone, to take care of them. This means the world to me." I just smiled softly. "Do you want to go watch a movie in the living room while you finish breakfast?" I had completely forgotten about my unfinished meal, and my stomach growled hungrily.

"Yeah, that sounds great."

We went downstairs together, and Rosalie set me up on the couch with my food.

"How does 'Mean Girls' sound?"

"Amazing," And we started on a mini movie-marathon.

That was how the rest of the Cullen's found us when there returned. Esme and Carlisle with their eyes gleaming with pride, Emmett with confusion but happiness, Edward and Jasper's eyes held shock, and Alice was wearing a knowing smirk.

I have never been happier in my entire life.
