Chapter One- A Ruined Childhood

I woke up to screaming coming from downstairs. I was used to it by now.

Mummy and Daddy always fought when they thought I was alseep.

At six years of age, you would think my parents would love me. A normal childhood. Mine was far from that.

My mum hit me, and my dad starved me.

I had learned to take care of myself, even at such a young age.

My closest friend was always there for me though. Whenever I could sneak out, I always went to his house. Yes, my best friend was a boy. All the other kids laughed at us for being friends. We didn't care.

We were friends because our lives were the same. His dad left at a very early time in his life, wanted by the police for attempted murder of his mum.

His mum took out all her anger on him. Whether it was physical or verbal, he got it all.

We helped each other through everything.

Until one night.

The screaming coming from downstairs was different. It was painful, full of fear.

I went downstairs to see what was the matter.

I screamed from what I saw.

Mum was lying on the floor, covered in blood.

Dad's throat was being torn out by a...

Monster

That was the only thing I could think of to describe it.

The fact that they were dead wasn't as bad as what happened next.

I saw my childhood friend, the one I trusted with everything, my saviour from the hell I was living.

I saw him dead on the floor.

Covered in blood.

"S-Skye?" I said, running over to him and kneeling down.

"SKYE!" I yelled, shaking him to try and wake him.

Fifteen years later,  I had no one left. The monster had killed anyone I had ever met. But it kept me alive, for some absurd reason.

Death didn't bother me anymore. I had gotten used to it.

At such a young age, too...

Anyways? I had gotten myself a life. A house, a job, I settled in.

One night, I was driving myself hone from working as a security guard for an art museum, my car stopped.

No flat tire, nothing wrong with the engine, full tank of gas.

"This is exactly what I need!" I said to myself.

Sighing, I got out of the car.

I tripped on a rock on the way out, and fell flat on my back. The air escaped from my lungs as the ground beneath me began to move.

It was almost as if I was on a lift.

Soon I was underground, in a room with stations everywhere.

I heard people talking to the right of me, so I went to ask them if they know what had happened.

As I got closer to the voices, I could hear that one was American and the other was Welsh.

I approached a door, eager to open it.

The moment I turned the handle the voices stopped, and I could hear guns being loaded.

I opened the door anyways.
