The Date

"Emily! Wake up, you're going to be late to school!" said a familiar voice. I felt myself being shaken awake. I opened my eyes. "Mom, what time is it?" I asked as I sat up and checked my phone. "7:45, you've got 15 minutes to get ready. I got to get to work so I'll see you when I get home tonight. Love you," said my mom as she gave me a hug goodbye, grabbed her coffee mug from my dresser and walked out of my room.

I quickly got up and got dressed into a plaid shirt with a white tee underneath, black leather jeans, and the quickest pair of shoes I can find which were my short black boots. I quickly brushed through my hair and went to my car to school.

At school, I was greeted by Aria and Ali. "Hey guys, where's Hanna and Spence?" I asked.  "They went to Radley to find out some more stuff about the drawings because their parents aren't going to let them out tonight," Aria informed me.  I nodded slightly. I couldn't help but noticed that Ali kept smiling at me from the corner of my eyes. "So um, I got to get to class," I told them. Ali grabbed my arm and said, "I can walk you, my class is in that direction." I nodded again, and gave a small smile to her. "Okay, well I'll see you in third period, Aria," I said. We had that class together. "Alright, bye guys," Aria said as she walked in the opposite direction.

We started to walk towards our classes. "Hey Em, it's nice to see you," Ali said as she grabbed my hand. At first I was uncertain about holding her hand in front of everyone in the school hallways only because no one knows about us. And frankly, I didn't quite know what we were either. "Yeah, you too," I told her. "Do you have any plans tonight?" She asked me. "Um, no. Why?" I asked. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out, maybe see a movie or something." I couldn't help but noticed how good she looked with her hair straight, and how her outfit suited her body just right. "Like a date?" I asked her. Was she, Alison Delaurentis, asking me out on a date? By this time we were already to my classroom door. "Bye Em," Ali said as she walked off with a smirky smile on her face.

I set my bag down on the desk behind where Aria was sitting when I walked into my third period class. She was texting on her phone when she noticed me and smiled. "Hey Emily!" I smiled and said hey. "Is Spencer and Hanna back?" I asked. "Yeah, they just got back. They said they didn't find anything too important for our case," Aria replied. "Oh," "Hey can you come to Ezra's house tonight? Me and Spencer are going. We think we can maybe find some information on why Eddie gave him those pictures," Aria asked. "You know I would just love to," I said in a sarcastic tone of voice, "but I kind of have plans with Ali." "Oh really? What plans?" quiered Aria. "I don't know, see a movie or something," I said. I know I can confide in Aria and tell her what's going on and she wouldn't judge me. She smiled at me, "Like a date? Is that why you guys act so weird around each other?" "Aria, I don't know," I couldn't help but smile a little. "I think I do have feelings for her but there is so much going on right now, with A, Mona's army, Paige, and all this 'who's the girl in the grave' matter." Aria had a look of sympathy on her face. "I understand with what you mean about everything going on. I mean, A did not make it easy for me and Ezra to be together. But I think you should do what you feel is right, and you and Ali should talk about it," Aria said. "Alright class! Pull out you history books!" Mr. Grande said right after the tardy bell came on. Aria gave a half smile before turning around as I fiddled with my pen, thinking about what she said.

The rest of the day went pretty quickly. Nothing out of the normal happened with Ali happened in school except for the 'I know what you two are up to' smiles from Aria. After thinking about it, I was pretty excited about our little date tonight. When I pulled into my driveway, I received a text message from Ali, saying 'Ill see u at 7! :)'. Since Ali doesn't have her car at the moment, I'm picking her up. It's nice to do something that doesn't have anything to do with investigating. I've been dreaming of this night for years, going out on a date with Ali. It almost feels unreal that it's going to happen, almost to good to be true. I just need to push all the negative thoughts out of my head, and focus on me and Ali's very possible future relationship.

I arrived at Ali's house at 7. Ali was standing on the porch and waved when she saw me pull up. She got into the passenger seat and combed her blonde hair back with her fingers. "You look good, Em!" she said, looking at me. I smiled. "Ali I looked like this all day, but thanks," I replied. "I know, I just thought you should know," said Ali, "so um, I was thinking maybe we can go to dinner instead, I'll pay." "Yeah sure," I replied. I think dinner is better too, because it gives us the time to talk, and bond.

After we were seated at our table at The Grille, we ordered. I ordered the burger meal, and Ali got the cheeseburger. It was pretty fun, being here with Ali. We were telling old stories and laughing for about 30 minutes. Then, we got on the topic of my relationships. I told her about Maya, Samara, and Paige. I told her about my heartbreaks, and my happiness. She asked about what happened when she was gone, and she got caught up in a weird way of catching up after you were 'dead' for two years. I listened to her, about her peaks of sadness while she was gone, and her plans for the future. It was like I was with a whole new Ali. She was nice, and actually a good listener. I've never really seen this side before, and I liked it. A lot. I took her home after 2 hours of talking, and before she got out she kissed me.

This night turned out really well. It left me in a good mood. I was able to forget about all the bad things in my life right now when I was with Ali, and she made me feel good. I can't wait to tell Aria about our date tomorrow. I was in such happy feels tonight, I thought nothing could kill it until I got the text...

Be careful, Emily. Not everyone is who they seem to be. Kisses, -A
