"FRANKIE" yells Aimee, Francesca's mother.
Ugh, Senior year. The year before college. The last year of high school. The last year before fully becoming an adult. Safe to say I am freaking out a little.
"I'M COMING MOM" yells Francesca.
I speed up a little knowing my mother would not appreciate it if I was late. I finally decide I am ready to go dressed in denim light blue jeans with a white shirt and white slip on Vans. Just the way I like it. Simple.

"This year is going to be great." says Veronica, my best friend. Sitting in our first class of the day, English. "Why are you freaking out so much Frankie?" questions Blake, Veronica's on and off boyfriend. In my opinion, more like flavor of the month. Veronica has always been more of the out going friend who can easily talk  and make new friends with anyone. Me? Not so much. "I guess, but I am a little scared of what my future holds for me", I reply back a little defensive. Currently sitting in Homeroom being grilled by my best friend and her boyfriend is not ideal to be happening on the first day of school.

I have always been the in the background kind of girl. I am glad my shy self has landed me a friend like Veronica who accepts me for me. Especially being an adopted black child who's 'parents' are both white. It doesn't bother as much as it did before because I have learnt to embrace it. I love my parents even if they aren't technically my parents. I will always call them and see them as my Mom and Dad.

My Dad owns a company and my Mom runs an online fashion website. Safe to say I can live without financial struggles. But, I always remember not to take anything for granted. My Mom and Dad are the sweetest person you'll ever meet and I know they love me with all my heart.

"Earth to Frankie" Veronica says, interrupting my current conversation with my self. "Oh, um, sorry, I spaced out a little bit." I reply a little flustered. "It's alright Fran" Veronica answers.
"Anyway, I think we should totally go for a girls night tonight at the mall" Veronica announced. "Sure" I declared. Retail therapy might be what I need to lift my spirits on beginning Senior year.

"Finally" breathed out. "School is over."
"I know right, going though syllabuses all day sure is tiring." Veronica chuckled. "So, I'll pick you up at 6 and we'll hit the mall." Veronica exclaims. "Alrighty" I answer back.
"See you later"
"Bye"

Driving away from school I think to myself about how the rest of my day is going to play out. Little do I know about the 'suprise' I have waiting for me at home.
