...............................................................

As the seat belt signs went on the pilot that had told us at the start of the flight that his name was John Simpson stated we would be landing at Hewanorra International Airport in 20 minutes. I nervously fumbled around packing my books away and trying to clip together my seat belt. About 5 minutes later and after accidentally punching the man next to me my seat belt was finally securely fasten and tightened within an inch of its life.

I've never really liked flying. All these story's about Aeroplanes crashing freak me out. Unfortunately the only way to get to St. Lucia is to fly so I'm kind of stuck but now after a 8 hour flight of endless grey clouds suddenly blue sky is emerging and below me all I can see is turquoise blue water and shining golden sands.

Unfortunately the tranquilness of the view of the island was rudely disturbed as I noticed we were getting rather close to the ground. All of a sudden there is a colossal thump as we land safely on the runway. 'Thank god that's over' I say out loud to myself.

'Couldn't agree more' the man beside me says, 'I hate long flights'

The man must be in his late 50's to early 60's. He seemed very pleasant and we did make light conversation whilst on the flight. I am surprised he even spoke to me after I punched him only 20 minutes ago!

'I hate flights all together' I said with a light chuckle.

'Well done on being so calm' he said congratulating me.

If only he knew I thought to myself. 'Thank you' I replied sweetly. I turned and looked back out of the window, we were being taxied into the terminal. A voice over from one of the air hostesses began to sound. 'Ladies and Gentlemen I hope you have enjoyed your flight from Glasgow to Saint Lucia. The air temperature outside is 28degrees with the humidity at 57percent. Soon the captain will turn the seatbelt signs off and you can make your way to the front of the cabin and head off down the terminal into passport control. Thank you very much for flying with Easy jet we hope you enjoy your trip' and with that she was gone. Seconds after the seatbelt signs were off, I begin to make my way to the front of the cabin and down the terminal building.

Being quite and organised person I already had my passport out and ready to hand over to the passport control officer. A woman politely said to me 'desk 4' as she pointed me in the direction of the desk. I handed my passport to a stern faced woman with sleeked back black hair tightly fastened in a bun at the back of her head. She had way to much eyeliner on it looked like she had panda eyes and her lips were bright red. She made my whole body quiver. She began to look from my passport to myself before abruptly saying 'you've changed haven't you Grace Marie Coswell'

I can't argue that she was wrong, my passport picture looked completely different to my self. In my picture I had shoulder length dirty blonde hair with dark routes that sat poker straight around my chubby face. I was wearing no make up and I had a huge woollen jumper on. But now standing here In front of this woman is a tall, slim girl with natural very long mousy brown hair that is tied into a messy side braid. I have make up on and I am wearing the shortest shorts ever and a top that resembles nothing to a huge woollen jumper!

I could point out all of the changes but I just answer in probably the simplest way possible. 'Yes, I have' i say in a calm and relaxed voice.

'Aren't you still a bit young to be travelling on your own' she spits out at me.

Truth is I am still too young to be holidaying on my own I only just turned 18 last week but I feel like I need to get away for a while. You see I recently split from my boyfriend Charlie of almost two years, my place at university is in danger as I don't believe I have met the grades I need to get in and my fantastic, amazing and fabulous brother Luck who is only 15 has practically already got a place at oxford university and is most likely going to win a noble peace prize for his efforts in science! So that's my life back in Glasgow and that's why I am taking this holiday on my own. Two weeks I'm the sun to forget everything!

Yet again I choose the easy reply, 'yeah suppose I am' I say.

The stern woman pushes my passport into my hands and dismisses me abruptly 'go through'. I obey and begin to walk through the doors ahead of me. I can barely blame the woman for being so rude and annoying. It wouldn't be my Ideal job checking passports to make sure terrorists or illegal immigrants don't get let into a country. I push threw the doors into a large open area where I presume my taxi driver Is waiting for me. I look around until I see a sign that says Coswell on it.  I walk over to the man holding the sign.

'Grace Coswell' I say in a polite tone.

'Ahhh Grace, yes, yes that's you! My name is Toby pleasure to meet you', he said whilst shaking my hand, 'Right let's get going the cars outside I'll get your case' the man, Toby, had an extremely amazing Caribbean accent. We walked over to baggage reclaim. Luckily my case was one of the first out.

'My case is that one with the flags on it' i said pointing to it.

'Oh yes I can see it' toby said in his accent.

As my bag came around Toby lifted it gently to the ground and started wheeling it towards the exit. As he turned away I followed him and my journey begins.
