To my crush,
I know it's hard to believe I like you. You and your curly hair and brown eyes that seem to reflect everything like a polished piece of tigers eye gemstone. With your random growth spurts and hands bigger then my own face.
I like you. It's not 5th grade anymore where both of us roll around the dirt laughing anymore. We've made it to high school. Second year to be exact. But I still like you. Even after being through all your turbulent relationships.
I remember the time you got kicked out of a field trip for climbing a tree. I remember having to be the one walking you all the way to the bus because I was considered mature enough to do it. I remember we took a detour and your shirt ended up getting soaked. But you still apologized for getting my hair wet.
I remember the times I felt so ugly that I'd cry behind the bleachers. You'd give me food and I'd laugh. I remember the day you asked me out as a joke. I could only laugh then. But I wonder what would have happened I said yes that day.
I remember you covering for me as I had to run to the bathroom to throw up. The teacher not noticing as you threw paper balls out the window. I didn't throw up because of anything bad. It was probably just the apple crisp he cafeteria made.
It's weird to think we met when I threw a half eaten egg across the table trying to hit my friend who threw fun dip at me before. It hit you and you laughed. Now both of us are old enough to push each other around and be fun about it.
I remember when you joined the same academic program as me to make sure I wouldn't be alone. Your leaving after this year but still thanks for that. We didn't end up in the same class but we got advisory together. We are to many doughnuts and struggled thru freshman year together.
The times we hung out on the Fourth of July. Are laughter stuck on the playground as some other sixth grader asked if we are high schoolers. Then the next year your taller then me and stealing my shaved ice. Both of us laughing at your sister hanging on the monkey bars.
Gosh I like you. You and your stupid dimples and smile that lights up the room. You and the way you attract everyone. How your so strong an how you can bench press me. How you make me a better person and how I can strive to be just as good as you.
Thank you for that. For all the words we say and how we annoy each other to the point of throwing shoes. Thank you and I know we can never happen. But I'll still like you. Thanks for making my world bright.
      - sincerely me
