That Winter Morning

I shivered as the cold winter breeze caressed my skin. It was my favourite time of year. The early morning dew the pristine white roofs and the mouth watering hot chocolate was surreal.

I pulled tighter on the sides of my coat and trudged on down the road. The rows of shops lit brightly. The city was alive but trudging through New York's centre was a nightmare.

That was the one thing I hated about New York.

You couldn't take a car without running into some traffic on the way to your destination. And the pavements were always littered with
people. You were lucky if you got to where you was going without bumping into people.

I continued my walk down the pavement thoroughly enjoying the little flakes of delicate snow that fell from the sky landing peacefully amongst it's friend on the ground.

Smiling as I watched the little kids tapping on glass windows lusting over the toys they didn't have.

It was a beautiful time of year indeed it was my favourite time of year.

I skipped down the road singing Christmas carols in my head imagining all the festivities that would occur this year.

Many parents say the older you get the more the great joys of Christmas vanquish into thin air until it becomes a chore.

But even so I still had pleasure in opening presents on christmas day, squealing when auntie Terry bought me a new faux fur jacket or when uncle Steve had got me some chocolates.

But my most favourite part...was when our family came together to celebrate.

watching the smiles dancing upons people's faces as they opened their gift seeing their eyes light up in joy.

That was the best thing about christmas.

My lips folded upwards as I neared the corner of this street. I scanned the area and next to me there was a puddle of water draining down through the streets sewer drains. It dawned on me I made a run for it but realisation set in too late.

Crap this was literally crap

A car came zooming past creating a huge wave of water which headed straight at me.

I stared down in horror. I was soaked to the skin my day was going so great so far and something as tedious as this had ruined it. I bubbled and steamed shivering on the spot.

I quickly paced down the street turning into the small cafe on the street corner.

I opened the door and I catched a waft of freshly baked pastry and newly brewed coffee. I closed my eyes taking in the warmth that slowly slivered it's way around my body. Basking in the warmth I had held the door open for to long for I was getting a glare from a rather old lady who was sitting by the door. So I quickly slammed the door behind me.

I stood there for a brief moment until I was awoken by my daze from tapping on the glass door. It dawned on me. Shit shit

On the other side stood a shockingly handsome man. He had chocolate brown curly hair which was sprinkled with snowflakes, and deep hazel eyes which left me in a state of shock. His tanned complexion was perfectly smooth and you could see his toned abbs through his not too tight top. His arms were warm and welcoming but his stare was fiercely intimidating as he glared down at me from his height.

But all this was destroyed to quickly as he hammered his fist on the door and still in my state of daze I opened it frantically.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry!"

He scoffed and brushed past me

I hadn't had my fix of hot chocolate and I was standing there soaking wet. I really wasn't in the mood for a fight so I put his mean gesture aside trying to be a bigger person.

"I'm generally sorry I really didn't mean for that to happen I didn't know you was outside!"

He turned around with annoyance on his face "Can you just hurry along and not waste anymore of my time I don't like to associate myself with girls like you clumsy and stupid." The jerk patronized.

The old lady turned around in shock at what was going on. But she seemed quite entertained.

I sighed in frustration. He got me all riled up and the idiot knew it.

"I'm sorry I slammed the door in your face but you don't have to act like such a jerk about it" A real jerk at that

What was I doing this was stupid I should've just brushed it off but I had just woken up and this man had really pushed my buttons.

The vivid line across his forehead smoothed out when he relaxed his face. But in it's place a smirk formed.

I was at boiling point he was pushing me to my edge and he knew it. I clenched my jaw and tried not to burst in pure anger.

This frustratingly beautiful idiot just wouldn't shut up and I couldn't deal with him much longer

"Unfortunately for you you can fix and ugly smile but you can't fix an ugly personality." I spat out quickly.

He stood dumbstruck in the middle of the cafe as the old lady chuckled into her tissue.

I smirked in glory.

I really beat his ass didn't I.
