"Owww..." I groaned, rubbing my head and opening my eyes. As I looked around I couldn't see anyone. My arms were tied down to the side of a bed. I almost immediately started to breathe hard, yanking at my wrists, then squealing as a pain in my shoulder ached. My arm was bandaged up carefully as were the rest of my wounds from the little journey. I yanked more and more at the restraints when the memory of hours before came rushing through to me.

"Darkfyre!! Face me you dick!" I hissed, looking to the only door in the room. It was small, arched and never opened. I glanced to the high up window then a voice, his voice, caught my attention. I love that voice, but it was hard to think that way or focus on it after everything he let me go through.

"If I untie you, can you please sit still and let me explain myself.." He whispered, there was what I thought was a plead in the way he looked at me.

I just stared, "Explain what? How you let me believe that you wanted me and then how I just suddenly wasn't enough? You want to try and explain an attempt on my life earlier? Or how you just stood and let them beat me? How even when they weren't there to stop you, you still let me fall and bleed and made no attempt to say anything to me?! Go ahead! Let's see what other bullshit you can come up with?!" I growled as tears started to cloud my eyes. Darkfyre frowned and pulled out his dagger, cutting the rope from my hands. He sat close to the bed, making the temptation to attack him very vigorous.

"First, if I wanted to kill you then I assure you that you'd be dead by now. I did what I did to make sure that you lived." He moved to the bed, sitting on the edge and looking me in the eyes, "They sent Charles, then they offered me the chance to prove my loyalty to them. I knew that was my chance to get to you. Okura didn't want me near you, so I found a way around that. And I'm sorry about your shoulder, but you weren't going to listen to my reasoning, at least not after what I've done. Besides, I had to leave some of your blood somewhere so they think you're dead..Tyrone sent more assassins with me so I had to lose them and hurry along."

"You weren't protecting me; you were protecting yourself. I wouldn't be in this situation if you didn't leave. Then I wouldn't have attacked Kenley and I would still be unharmed and happy." I raised my hand to hit him but he caught my wrist and pulled me close to him.

"Listen to me Lil, I had to say what I did. They threatened to kill you. If you would've waited a few more days, then I would've found a way to tell you. They wanted me to make your life a life a living hell.." He seemed sincere; but I couldn't bring myself to listen.

"No, Darkfyre my life is a living hell because of you." I felt more tears start to fall down my cheeks just at the memory of him telling me that I wasn't enough. Darkfyre quietly watched me for a minute. Then he pulled me in a bit more and kissed me, but I yanked a hand up and slapped him and then a grunt slipped by his lips.

"I want the truth now Darkfyre. Then you can kill me if that's what needs to happen here. But I'm done fighting you." I spoke softly, but urgently, "I need closure." I wiped my eyes more, desperate to be stronger than I felt. Darkfyre caught my hands, "I'm telling you the truth. Lil, I never meant to hurt you. I didn't mean what I said back in the garden.." For once he seemed like he was almost begging, "Please look at me.."

I waited a few minutes before I looked back at him. His hands grabbed my face and wiped away my tears with his thumbs, "You are enough, Lilith. You have been since day one. You will always be." He whispered. For a moment, just a moment I was lost in his eyes, his voice, his words. His everything. But I snapped myself from the trance and pulled my face from his hands, wiping my own tear stained face until it was raw and dry.

"I wasn't going to let the beating on, but if I acted there, chances are, you'd be dead. I couldn't risk that. But I did contact a few people to cause a commotion so Okura could get you out," He looked down at me, careful of his words, "I don't like to see you this way.."

"Why didn't you tell me after..." I whispered, trying to look at him straight as I fiddled with my hands.

"I was going to, but Okura is still convinced. She didn't want me near you. And I couldn't waste time arguing. It would only narrow your chances to get out." He seemed to notice that I had calmed a little.

"Ugh. You're complaining about wasting time again?" I laughed some at the memory, then quickly went in another direction at Okura's name. I flinched, "I have to go find her." I went for my watch but it was gone off my wrist.

"I got rid of it. They were using it to track you two." Darkfyre rubbed his head some, "She wasn't there, Lil. My first priority was to get you to safety, but I promise we will find her. Just stay for a bit longer, to make sure the other assassins are gone," he took a deep breath, "And then, if you're really set on this being over.. then I will let you go. I just needed you safe and I needed you to know the truth."

My skin burned and I got up, grabbing my weapons, putting them where they belonged, "Sorry, but I have to find her..She's like a sister to me." I growled, wincing and holding my shoulder as I got to the door.

"Oh, and my feelings won't just go away, but I don't know if I can do this..if I can do us.." I whispered, trying to open the door. But - as usual - Darkfyre was quickly blocking me and holding the door shut, reminding me that he wouldn't let me leave yet.

"Please Lilith. You want the truth? Then face me.." Something that I couldn't read was lacing his voice.

I lashed around, "Yeah and what's that?!" I cried, staring with dull, tired eyes.

He stepped forward, making me flinch as his hands caressed my cheeks, "I'm in-love with you, Lilith."
