Garrett
Gavin and I were walking in the park trying to find my friend Emily who I had a play date with. We were going to the playground. As Gavin was looking around trying to find her, I saw that nice girl Ali. So I ran up to her to say hi.
“Hi Ali!”
“Hi Garrett. What are you doing here all alone?” She asked
“I’m with Gavin, but I saw you so I came over.” I replied.
“You can’t keep running away from him.” I scolded me. “Where is he?” I shrugged my shoulders at this because I wasn’t paying attention to where we were walking. I was looking for Emily. As I was about to reply Gavin came running up to us.
“Garrett” he sighed, then looked up and saw Ali and her friend. “What are you doing here, with him?” He asked. I guess he doesn’t like Ali’s friend.
“Oh shit.” Ali said.
“That’s a bad word!” I yelled. Mommy says that you should never say bad words. That it makes you seem dumb. And I’m not dumb, I’m smart. Mommy said so. As Ali, Gavin, and her friend continued to talk I spaced out looking around for Emily. Then I saw a dog chasing a squirrel. I felt bad for the squirrel. It was just minding it’s own business eating some nuts when the doggy ran up to it. I continued watching the squirrel and dog till I felt a pull on my arm.
“Let’s go Garrett. And what did I tell you?” Gavin said to me. I just looked up at him trying to remember what he had said.
“Gavin? What’s that on your neck?” Ali asked.
“I don’t know probably a hickey or something?” Gavin replied.
“What’s a hickey?” I asked not knowing. I’ve never heard that word before. Gavin clamped his hand over my mouth telling me not to say that word again.
“That’s what you said last time when I said fook.” I replied not getting what was so bad about these words. The three of them then continued to argue till Ali kicked them in the legs. She then took my hand and told them once they stopped being sissies they could join us for ice cream. I perked up at that. I love ice cream.
Ali and I continued through the park till we got to the ice cream polar across the street. When we walked inside we went straight up to the counter and got on line.
“What flavor do you want Garrett?” She asked me.
“Can I get chocolate fudge brownie one?” I asked with a smile. It was my favorite flavor.
“Sure.” She said with a smile. A lady then walked up to us and Ali ordered 2 chocolate fudge brownie ice creams. The lady came back with them and we thanked her while Ali gave her 5 dollars. After she payed we walked over to a table and sat down.
“Good choice Garrett.” Ali said after she tried it.
“I know.” I said with a smile. “It’s my favorite flavor.” We kept talking for a few more minutes till Gavin came in and sat down with us.
“Are you done being a sissie?” I asked remembering what Ali had said earlier. She then proceeded to laugh while Gavin looked at me in shock.
“We should be heading home.” Gavin said to me but I shook my head.
“I didn’t finish my ice cream yet though!” I protested.
“Ya. We didn’t finish our ice cream yet.” Ali backed me up.
“Fine.” Gavin muttered knowing he wouldn’t win against the 2 of us. I continued eating my ice cream with a smile on my face as Ali and I talked. Gavin joined in as well and before we knew it we were all laughing and chatting. That was until a teenage girl in a uniform for the ice cream polar walked up to us.
“Hi Gavin, Hi Ali.” she said.
“Yes Ashley?” Gavin replied. As soon as Ashley said hello, Ali visible paled and froze.
