PLEASE READ ME I'M VERY IMPORTANT TO THIS STORY!!
A/N: Hey! Thank you for choosing to read my story. After a lot of thought - and I mean a lot thought I have decided to cancel my story. I have written 23 Chapters but looking back I see no structure and stuff and it just aggravates me. I no longer enjoy writing this story like I use to and the plot is annoying, just blaaaaaag. For this, amongst other reasons, I am cancelling the story and no updates will be done unless I suddenly change my mind for some reason. I am going to re-read my current chapters though and try and improve them.
Story Tellers POV:
The cafe was pretty nondescript with classic black and white tiles on the floor and little red booths for seating. There was a little TV up in the corner, blurting random news nobody cared about with a fake blonde opening and closing her mouth looking like a fish out of water. There's also a jukebox in another corner, but that's as technical as the cafe got. The classic cheap cafe in the-middle-of-nowhere aiming for the cool 50s look and failing. Miserably.
The cafe itself was pretty deserted, not many people in at a horrendous time first thing in the morning. Only those in suits with briefcases were normally seen at this ungodly hour, sipping their coffee to try and find some way to wake up before their bosses murder them for sleeping in at the job. These regulars were far too tired to notice the two in the corner booth that's not dressed like them. Even the waitress herself, a puny 17 year old with piercings and dyed blonde hair, didn't even try to comprehend why they were in the cafe. She was in dreamland over her new boyfriend.
''So tell me again. What am I exactly? '' Aphrodite asked the lady wearing the pink cat-suit and bright pink hair. Her looks almost too in-human to look at. This strange women with candy-floss coloured hair was once or perhaps still is a model, especially with her need to colour co-ordinate everything. Like seriously, did she think she was in high school still?
''You're basically a demi-god. We haven't been around for that long so we haven't established a name yet. We're extremely rare and have a couple abilities, but the more important you are thought to be to our kind the more powers you'll develop.'' The giant candy-floss on a stick explained, flailing her arms around to try and help her point. Almost like she knew what Aphrodite was about to ask she quickly explained her earlier statement, ''Demi-Gods have always been around but there was never a faculties to train in as your parents normal taught you, so they managed to keep their existence quiet so we have no proof that they existed before the 20th Century.'' The stranger replied in one quick breath. Aphrodite was surprised she could understand this woman with the speed she was speaking. It was almost like if she didn't speak fast someone would steal her light.
'' If I develop these gifts then why haven't I noticed them before?'' Aphrodite asks, quite perplexed about what this pink cloud keeps telling her. She tried to act as nonchalant as possible, as she didn't want to promise this stranger anything - especially as she didn't believe what the pink cloud was saying - but her curiosity won anyway.
'' It's because your gifts don't start developing until your 16th birthday, and your birthday isn't for another week!" The lady let out an excited squeal at the thought of another birthday party she could plan. Aphrodite became quite uneasy at the thought of a complete stranger knowing her birthday and her name. As if sensing Aphrodite's uneasiness, the lady continued in a more serious tone. "It's to save humanity from a baby with gifts. Also by now you should have been taught to fight in case you need to, and please tell me you have because being an orphan isn't a good enough excuse to not know how to fight!" The woman let out an exhausted breath, as if tiring herself with having to explain.
Aphrodite flinched at the harshness of the cotton candy but gave a curt nod to the lady anyway. She had learnt how to fight before she became an orphan in case she got into a 'street fight' which obviously wasn't the case. Like seriously, what kind of 4 year old got into street fights? Anyway, after becoming an orphan, Aphrodite continued to learn how to fight as a way to release her anger. Along side with this, Aphrodite learnt different types of fighting as well as gymnastics.
''Good. Now all you have to do is tell me your mother and fathers names and we'll work out where to go from there.'' Aphrodite looked up quite startled, she hadn't heard anyone mutter anything about needing information on her parents before. Especially when you're an orphan.
''Jo and Miriam Smith'' Aphrodite blurts out the names without much thought. The pink cloud blanched.
''But I've never heard of a Joe and Miriam Smith. This can't be right.'' The pink cloud said, shaking her head whilst getting up and getting ready to leave the cafe. ''Come on, Aphrodite, I need to take you to the institute, to train you.'' The pink cloud saw her hesitate, and realised why she wasn't following her.
''My name is Jane. Jane Harrison. Now come on.'' Aphrodite feels nervous and the uneasiness never leaves but she follows Jane through the door anyway. Quickly running back, Aphrodite leaves a £20 note on the table. The waitress looked slightly startled at their sudden decision to leave, not even touching their drinks, and went to ask them if it was okay but noticed Jane and her face lost all colour, close enough to represent a blank piece of paper. The rest of the cafe's customers was oblivious to the exchange that had just happened, busy drinking their own coffees and busy with their own lives. Stupid, oblivious adults.
Aphrodite followed and considered where her hotheadedness and stupidity will lead her this time. What she didn't realise was that she would never be able to leave and this was only the start of something big.
I just want to find a place to call home. If I don't like it I'll just leave.
