"Is this seat taken?" A girl interrupted your thoughts, holding onto the back of the chair opposite you.
"Oh, um, no." You pulled your head up, you came to this little café so you could get a steaming mug of tea, because you hadn't had it in a while and it was more comforting than whiskey sometimes.
"Sorry, I just don't want to sit at the bar; that guy kinda freaks me out." She muttered with an apologetic smile. "You looked a bit upset, too."
"Yeah, just my brothers. We had a bit of a fight, and I stormed off to here. I'm Christo, by the way." You told her politely, watching her eyes carefully. "But I prefer to go by (Y/N), it's my middle name." You explained, realizing she wasn't a demon. And she actually sounded like a person and not a robot, so she couldn't be an angel.
"I'm Luci. And trust me, I know all about fighting with brothers. Do you wanna talk about it?" She asked. You almost said no, but you did want to talk about it. And she seemed to be the only person that would listen and maybe even understand.
"Yeah." You smiled sheepishly, feeling foolish. You didn't speak for a moment, and she reached out and put her hand on yours.
"Don't be ashamed, (Y/N)." She said kindly, but her features melted into an angry question. "Did they hurt you?" She asked lowly, tucking her head in and looking concerned.
You shook your head immediately. "No, no. They'd kill anyone who did. They just- They treat me like a child. I'm 22 for God's sake, I can handle myself. Anytime I get hurt, uh, on the job," You chose your words carefully, trying not to reveal too much and keep the tears behind your eyes. "They hover all around me until I'm healed. And they never listen to what I have to say. Gosh, I sound so whiney." You mumble out, dropping your head onto your arms on the table.
Luci chuckled at your gesture, relaxed once more. "We all need to whine sometimes, and it sounds like your brothers never seem to let you. What do you do that gets you hurt so much?" She inquired, sipping from her Styrofoam cup.
You paused for a moment, "I'm really not supposed to tell you." You sniffled, lifting your head back up to look at her. Something about her, she seemed so charismatic, you finally shrugged. -"You promise you won't tell anyone?" You asked. No wonder Dean and Sam treat you like a child. You thought to yourself as she nodded. "Well, I'm not like full-time, I only actually go out with them sometimes; they're pretty overprotective. Oh, you're totally gonna think I'm lying. We're all," You ducked your head in so no one would over hear you, "FBI Agents."
"Oooh, really? That's so cool." She smiled, and it was pretty contagious. You two talked for twenty more minutes, and you were laughing so hard you were holding your side with hand and the other was clamped on your mouth to try muffling the loud sound.
"You know Luci, I like you. I totally want to be friends." You told her, finishing off your cup.
She grinned smugly, like she had just won an argument. "I told you, (Y/N)."
"Told me what?" You giggled, still wearing your big smile.
"That you would like me if you'd stop treating me like some nasty demon. I am an angel, after all." She shrugged, looking pretty satisfied.
"Are you serious?" You moaned, dropping your head into your hands. "Luci, how did I not notice?" You mumbled to yourself.
"Well, I do look a little different. Though I think you like Nick's vessel a little more..." He trailed off as he snapped his fingers and disappeared. You looked around the café and thank the heavens that no one saw him. No wait, no one but that little kid. You sunk your head back into your hands and tried to pretend he wouldn't come back. "See, this is better, isn't it?" You left your head on the table, trying to argue with yourself.
But he's the devil. Your voice told you.
But you totally wanted to be friends, and you know it. Your voice also told you. Your Pro-Luci and Anti-Satan voices were arguing again, and, as per usual, the Pro-Luci was winning.
But he's the devil. Annie, as you had named her, repeated slowly.
So? Luce, as you had named the other, replied. Oh, come on. He cares enough to go and get a whole other vessel and basically go on a date with you- even listening to your sob story about the boys. Just shut up and admit your feelings already, idiot.
"I like this one." Lucifer's voice rang in your head.
Having an internal conflict, do you mind? Annie snapped, crossing her arms and pouting once he left. Fine. She huffed, and you brought you head up from the table to look at him as you sat back in your seat, arms crossed.
"That was cute." He grinned, evoking a small smile from you, which you quickly hid. "Come on, (Y/N), what's bad about me?"
You scoffed. "Well take your pick. You want to take both my brothers from me by killing one and possessing the other-"
"So you think I'd beat Micheal." He interrupted with the same smug smile, but you ignored him and continued.
"Or the fact that you are literally Satan." You finished off, leaning back in your chair, unaware you had moved.
"Isn't that exciting?" He asked, leaning closer to you. "And we could call off the fight, you and me. Kill Micheal in another vessel, and I could search for a replacement for Sam, just hop around a little. Come on, (Y/N), do it."
"Do what?" You asked, trying to find a valid excuse to the question he was going to ask.
"Be my girlfriend." He said simply, watching you with smirky eyes.
"I thought angels couldn't love." You told him, unable to find anything else to say. You found yourself leaning on the table, propping yourself up with crossed arms.
"They can't. And yet here I am, but then again, I'm not just any angel." He said softly, leaning closer to you. A voice in your head told you to move back, but the one that shoved you forward was louder. You kissed for a little bit longer than you should have, and Lucifer looked positively triumphant when you pulled away. "I'm yours."
