"Thanks for the good night." Yang's voice echoed through the forest. It was the only loud sound for miles. She was obviously talking to somebody inside the house, but who?
"Any time." A stoic voice lightly muttered from inside the house. It sounds so nostalgic. It makes me feel "nice."
Yang finally left the house, "are you sure you don't want to come with me?" She got on her yellow bike. "You'll meet my mom."
"Sorry, I got some business going on." A man appeared as a silhouette in the doorway. there's something to his posture. Why do I like it so much?
"Business? You mean sitting around for Oum knows how long?"
"I got a puzzle to solve. But I'll find you." Hearing his voice along with the cabin in the middle of nowhere... I know exactly who it is, and It's been too long.
"Alright, be lazy." Yang rode off as the man I've known for so long disappeared into the dark and lonely cabin. I could barely see him through one of the windows just sitting there on his favorite chair for hours. Hours upon hours and he didn't move. It almost felt like he was staring at me the whole time. Just waiting like a patient predator wading its time for me to approach.
It was until all light from the sun setting went away for another day that I made my move. The front or back door would've been too obvious so I had to look for something more. A gentle light illuminated a second story window above my head. The only sound throughout the old house was rain thumping the on the old roof above my crown. I tried to match the rain storm's tempo to cover my footsteps as I made way down the cabin's hallway. I passed door upon door until I reached the one I was looking for. the door was old and dusty, just like before. The room beyond the door was something filled with memories that I could never ignore.
Old stagnant air invaded my lungs as I entered the room. Heads of many Grimm littered the wall to the right of me, with weapons on the side. I smile when I see the old pool table in the middle of the room. It was positioned to the coroner right of the room. Dust covered it as the only thing to touch it in years was that dust, and now my fingers were grazing the pool table as if it was a pet you would never meet again.
A sudden creak in the floorboard made me swivel behind me. It was the man from before. I could now see him more clearly. His long red coat sent down to his ankles, his posture was unmoving with his dead looking blue eyes sent a shiver down my spine. The man in red's white and long reminded me of "his."
"Sparda?"
The man's face became a little angry until his eyes lightened with some joy as a chilling smile came across his face. "Maybe." He chuckles darkly. The man in red slid his hand into his long red coat to fish out a black handgun. Bang, Bang.
Without hesitation, I pulled out my sword to block the two bullets coming for my torso and sent them back to the man in red. He pulled a white gun to shoot not at me but something else. Two small clumps of lead fell to the floor with a deafening sound beforehand. The man effectively shot the bullets I sent back at him without even flinching.
The man In red's handguns reminds of "his" handguns. Sparda's.
"You look scared. Why don't you just close eyes as put you to rest, old lady?" The man in red put his handguns back into his coat. "Or do want to keep playing games?" He reached for a pool cud behind him. The pool cue rapidly swirled around his fingers as he got closer while eyeing me1 up and down. "Yang?"
I chuckled at him. "Maybe."
"I guess we will be playing games tonight" And with that, we both launched at each other. I sliced downwards as The man in red ducked and blocked my sword with his pool cue. The rod of wood cracked a little as I made contact with it. I pulled my sword out of the pool cue as the man let go of his weapon and fired a hard right hook into my stomach. My body violently slammed into the wall behind it with Some the Grimm's heads digging into my back. The pool cue was in the air from the blow I took. The man in red stretched his hand out to his side as the pool cue landed in it.
"I'll ask again. And even put it in laymen terms for you." The man in red snapped the pool cue in half with his gloved hands. "You look like someone I know. Does 'Yang Xiao Long' ring any bells?"
My eyes looked away from him and to the pool table"... Yeah, it does. Does Sparda sound familiar?"
"He was my father." I frowned at the man in red's response. 'Don't tell me I have another kid running around.'
"Why does sound 'Yang Xiao Long' sound so familiar to you?"
After the bruise on my stomach started to heal (thanks to my aura), I stood up strong and pointed my sword at the man in red. "I'll think about telling if I can't manage to decapitate you."
The man in red smugly chuckled. "If you're trying to play hard to get, I'm not into ladies that are past their biological clocks." The man in red reached his hand out to me. "The name's Dante, and we'll always be friends and nothing more."
I've had enough of his shit. I shuffled forward and stabbed Dante in the chest sticking into the wall behind him. But Dante's blue and cold eyes stared into mine before he walked his way through my sword. His body became taller and darker. He turned into some form of Grimm I had never seen in all my life.
In a panic, I ran past the beast to grab my sword and return to my tribe. Before I could use the sword to create a portal, the Grimm wrapped it's grizzly around my wrist and held me the air. Just like a paperweight, I threw out the window to hit the hard ground beneath me. A thunderstorm brewed in the sky as red lightning crashed into the ground near me.
"I'm sorry. You were gonna tell me what I wanted?" Out of reflex, I slashed downwards with my blade to the voice behind me. My sword was caught by the man behind me, Dante. Only for the once Grimm, to catch my weapon between his hands. From how he caught it, it felt like my blade hit steel.
"What?" Dante looked to his right. "Mother, huh?" I looked to where his staring but nothing was there. "Thanks... I guess?"
"You were the raven that would dare make my loneliness disturbed?" Dante's voice was monotone until he chuckled. "You couldn't even be kind enough for some gentle tapping at my chamber door? Even a loud or a gentle rapping at my door is something a kind creature would implore. But here we are, a ghastly Grimm and an ancient Raven so I'll ask you something more. Where would lie a maiden of spring for that was made for?" Dante tilted my sword to look me in the eyes. " How come you stopped your words, now I sound like a lonely nerd with no one to converse."
I smiled at Dante, "Nevermore!" My boot shot up under the crimson-clad man's chin as he let go of my sword; so I finally used my blade to return to my tribe. But before I stepped into my red and unruly looking portal, Dante nurtured his jaw as I walked into the hole of fabric in front of me. "You'll never be great as Sparda was. You'll only be a pathetic pariah."
