The wind softly blew through the trees, bringing the sweet smell of the autumn onto the balcony of the castle tower, as the sun slipped behind the mountain, The smell drifted to the nose of Shadow Nicolette, who leaned against the balcony. The smell was somewhat comforting, it meant that the seasons were changing, the nights getting longer. Shadow was a woman with a dark secret, a secret that could destroy everything she ever cared about; everything that she has done in the past was to protect their future. Shadow would do anything to protect her family, even if it meant she had to die, they would live.
5 years earlier
In a small european town. Robin Antonio walks outside of a church. A light mist falls from the sky upon his black hat. He looks over at the church's cemetery to see a woman with long dark hair and a black beautiful dress standing near a tombstone, he approached her.
"You'll catch a cold in this weather without something to cover your lovely hair" He holds up an umbrella over her.
"Thank you" she replied.
"I'm sorry for your loss" he said with respect.
She replied "I didn't know him, he was just a friend of the family. I was asked to come and pay my respect".
He couldn't stop looking at her. Her beauty was just captivating.
She spoke again, "I watched you come out of the church." noticing his white collar she asked, "are you it's priest?"
"No" he said looking at the church, "just here on business."
"I see." she said looking at the church too.
"Will you take a walk with me?" she asked.
"It would be my pleasure" he said with a smile.
She walked closely to him the whole time. Taking in his scent, and exchanging pleasantries with him. "Let us walk through the town's garden" she said, "no one will see us there" she thought to herself.
Side by side, they walked down the path in the rose covered garden, in silence, admiring the beauty of the flowers. As Robin and Shadow walked along the twisted path, Robin stopped and very carefully and cautiously, picked a rose and gave it to Shadow. Shadow was speechless, she had never gotten a gift from anyone before let alone a human male, the rose was the most beautiful deep blood red she had ever seen.
They continued walking down the path deeper into the garden until they had reached the middle of the it. In the middle of the garden stood a beautiful white gazebo, with roses growing all around, there was a bench in the gazebo, lit up by hanging lanterns against the night sky.
Robin wordlessly offered her his hand to help her up the steps, Shadow took his hand and he led her to the bench. There was something mesmerizing about him, something Shadow could not put into words what this human male was doing to her. She had never felt these kinds of feelings toward a human or any kind of being before. Shadow stared into the deep midnight blue eyes, of this human, trying to compel the male to bend his neck just a little bit more so she can sink her teeth into his flesh.
Why is it not working? She thought. As she continued to stare into his eyes, he stared back into her eyes. Shadow finally had to break away from the stare; she looked down at the blood red rose in her hand.
"Ouch!" Shadow exclaimed. She had pricked her finger on the rose thorn that she had not seen. Wordlessly Robin took her right hand and brought it up to his lips where he kissed the finger the thorn had stuck. This was a first. She thought. The human male was sucking her blood. Shadow was shocked and fascinated by this human. Shadow ducked her head as she worked out a plan to sink her teeth into his soft human neck. Robin reached out with his left hand, while still holding her right hand in his, and tilted her chin up. He started leaning in toward her, while staring into her eyes. Shadow could not move, his eyes transfixed her, her heart started pounding. Before she could react, his lips were on hers. There were not words to describe the feeling, she closed her eyes. The kiss was at first delicately, to see how Shadow would react, when she did not jerk away, but instead kissed him back, then the kiss became more powerful. They kissed until they had to break apart for air.
"Please forgive me my Lady; I do not know what came over me." Robin said apologetically.
"It is alright. It was not your fault entirely, all is forgiven." Shadow told him, with a flustered face and somewhat still out of breath.
"It was still terribly wrong of me to do that, when I do not even know your name." he said. "My name is Robin Antonio."
"My name is..." Shadow started. The midnight bell started tolling. Shadow stood up and ran down the path "I have to go."
"Wait!" Robin called after her. "What is your name?"
She stopped and turned around. "Myra. My name is Myra." Shadow told him, and turned the corner and disappeared from his sight.
"I will find you!" Robin yelled. "I will find you, even if it takes forever."
