There really isn't much that can please Jouske Higashikata. He's a rather...average high schooler- his hobbies being playing video games or his favorite show after half done homework once he came home.

And like everyone else his age, he had a particular interest in money.

The teen had friends too, sure. Koichi and his girlfriend, and his classmate Okuyasu.
However, there is one detail to keep in mind with Jouske- love always came first.

He wasn't quite like other boys, who hit on chicks too fast only to end up kicked to the curb. No, he hated that.
And the one woman who had taught him that girls would resort to nothing but that is his own mother.

Tomoko was indeed a very pretty woman. In fact, Jouske had a few memories of walking down the street with her, men catcalling at her tail.
That pissed him off, but it seemed to get her over the edge even more. As much as she was beautiful, his mother was hardheaded and rough around the edges. Like hell she'd let anyone get away with such an impolite approach.

It's not easy though, Jouske would admit, waiting on someone to actually come forth to you with their deepest feelings on you.

He knew he'd have to make a first move someday, somehow, but the most important part being that he never knew with whom.

Most of the girls in his class were either taken, or he just didn't have that much of an interest in. There wasn't anyone he really 'clicked' with that was female, is what he soon came to realize-
It's not that the girls didn't like him, they all seemed to have other people to think about who weren't Jouske.
(To which, he could never figure out why. Little did he know that girls weren't really into the whole 'pompadour' hairstyle at the time.)

And like every boy his age, he'd stare at the poster taped to his bedroom ceiling in thought.
