Hanji was smart, but his build was not as impressive as his brains. All the time he spent hunched over his desk writing and typing paper after paper left no time for silly things such as a gym membership. Hanji was an infamous scientist, he had not discovered anything despite pulling all nighters over his research and experiments, the only thing keeping him awake cold coffee and willpower. This was his big break. A month in the wilderness, all alone. He would acomplish so much good research on plants and wildlife, d he'd be so strong by then surely. Splitting firewood ever day would increase his muscle mass, this was a new start for Hanji.
Hanj just was not able to contain himself, he bounced up and down in the helicopters padded seat as he viewed the remote woods where he'd be staying. He pressed his face against the passenger window, "How many deer do you think I'll see!?" The pilot hardly was able to hear the ecstatic male over the helicopters wings and engines "Does it even matter?" the response came along with a noise of what Hanji would assumed was annoyance. The hefty pilot pointed to a place in the woods that had no trees and wasrelatively big. "I'm landing in that clearing and I ain't a'waitin no more than 10 minutes for you to get unloaded."
The task of carrying pack after pack of equipment and food was a tedious enough task for two, but there wasnt much Hanji could do to convince his pilot to spare him a hand. It took 15 minutes in total and a lot of complaining from a certain overweight pilot, but he had his things out. "Now yah better stay alive because if I fly back here and yer dead I'm gonna be mader than a preist in sin city" Hanji laughed at this as the helicopters wings began to swirl, the heavy aircraft lifting off the ground as the wind made a dissary of Hanji's long ponytail. He glanced over at his supplies. Boxes and bags and kits, it was a plethora to say the least.
Hanji timed himself. it took him altogether 1 hour and 23 minutes to get a campfire, a ready-made meal prepared, a tent pitched, and his supplies out. After eating his watery mashed potatoes and cold chicken nuggets he decided it was well past time to see what nature had to offer him, he picked up his lantern and lit it using a burning stick, tossing it back into the fire after he finished and picked up his research notebook.
It was around sunset when he went out, his spirits were as high as ever. His mood only seemed to improve when he noticed his first animal, a small rabbit who seemed to be nervous. Hanji bent down low, attempting to hide from the animals view, and began to scribble notes in his ungodly handwriting. "Lepus curpaeums, Brown medium coat..." He was lost in his scribbling, too lost it seemed, he hardly noticed the wolf that was slinking up on him.
He only noticed the threat once his rabbit had hopped away and a wolf had taken its spot. The hyperactive male backed up slowly as a guttural sound came from the predator. The only choice Hanji had was to run, so he did. With his glasses hopping up and down the bridge of his nose he made a sprint for his camp, hearing the pounding paws of the wolf behind him. "Canis lupus, heavy coat, most likely hungry, deadly, and in for the kill". Facts were always a comfort to male with chestnut hair, it was good to have some constants in life, but now they didn't have the calming effect he was shooting for.
Hanji always thought trees were important, as any respectable scientest would, but now his feelings for the bulky things changed. Hanji had tripped over a uprised tree root, his glasses flew from his face, limiting his vision and his clothes now had mud clinging to them, but Hanji was more concerned about the gray blur above him.The mass of gray pinning him down was growling and then strangely yelping like a puppy. Hanji sat up when the weight of the wolf had been lifted off of him and all sounds ceased, save heavy breathing and footsteps. The near blind male felt around for his glasses and found them almost at once, luckily uncracked and not covered in mud.
Hanji's vision was restored but his breath was taken away. Infront of him was a dead wolf in a pool of its own blood and a short, cold looking man with the wolfs murder weapon in his hands. "You... could be fined for that.. and you should not be here." Hanji managed to force out, he was beyond confused. "What kind of shitty person has their life saved and doesnt even thank the person who did it?"The hard gaze of the man was merciless. "I've been living here for many years, 3 at least. You have no place to tell me where I belong when you can't even defend your self from a damn wolf. Now please explain to me why you're here or i'll make you my second kill of the night." Hanji was more than ready to believe he would live up to that promise.
"I've been dropped off hear for my research.. no need to kill me.." he looked down, not wanting to even make eye contact with the short menace... he wasnt here to cause trouble so he should'nt be treated like it. The raven haired man snickered, but it sounded more like satan's voice to Hanj. "You wont be turning in any good research papers if you die. I'm Levi, seeing as how we now share this land I guess I should treat you with some respect to insure you don't stab me in the middle of the night."
Hanji looked up at the man and felt all fear vanish, the realization of the man only being 5 nothing and mostly likely not experienced any human interactions for 3 years. "Ha, I doubt I could. I'm Hanj and uh.. I didn't see a house or cabin or anything on my way here." Hanji was back to his usual self. He jumped up. "Ah, would you take me to it?? Maybe I could stay with you! I wouldn't take up much space, I'm such a nea-" "If you'll shut your mouth I'll take you there for the night... you can move in later if you're not too much of a nuisance.." Levi rolled his eyes as he started off on the path he came from, Hanji bouncing right behind him.
