Sophie’s Pov
No sleep all night sucks. After Levi broke our kiss and walked away to go home on our date I couldn’t help but think about that kiss all night long. It was crazy to think that such a small, innocent kiss could unhinge me so bad.
The clock blares beside me, the LCD numbers indicating that it was now six o’ clock. Slamming my hand down on the button to get the noise to stop I get up and stretch. Tossing open the closet doors I pick up the outfit I laid out last night. As soon as I’m dressed and out of my room I see Benji waiting patiently for me at the table for breakfast. He’s in his adorable pokémon pajamas, a sleepy look on his face.
Going over toward the stove I grabs the eggs on the way out and start to make them for us. Within a few short minutes I settle the plate down in front of Benji and sit down next to him. I give him the child-safe fork and we work on trying to get him to eat with a fork on his own. Lately I’d been starting to teach him how to try and eat with his own utensils. It was slow going but we were making progress.
“Come on Benji, you can do it.” I encourage him.
Making a face Benji starts to bring the eggs on the fork to his mouth in a wobbly hand. He makes it to his mouth and I clap, “Yay! You did it Benji, that’s awesome!” I say, excited.
Benji giggles and claps his own hands. Smiling at him I then start to eat my breakfast and assist him with learning how to eat on his own. It was moments like this that I really cherished because I know that they won’t last. That’s why I try and spend a lot of time with my son, I want him to look back on these times we had together and remember it fondly. I want to have a good relationship with my son and give him all the tools he needs move on in the world.
Unfortunately as breakfast finished it was time to go and get Benji dressed and ready. “Come on big boy, we need to get ready so that we will be on time.” I pick him up and we head into his room to go and get him dressed. Setting him down in his ‘big kid’ bed I smile as he laughs and bounces on it. He was almost two years old now so I decided it was time to wean him off of his crib. At first he hated the new bed but soon enough he got used to it. “So, what should we wear?” I ask as I pull out a few options for him.
I found that if you gave him options then he was more likely to keep his clothes on rather than try and get rid of them. Benji looks at the options and then points to a Power Rangers T-shirt and then a pair of jeans. Quickly dressing him I help to place his shoes on his feet and start tying the laces. Lastly I pick up his jacket and settle it onto his shoulders. “Are we ready?” I ask him.
“Yeah!” He clings onto me and I can’t help but laugh, he was such a cutie.
Heading out of the apartment I take a few seconds to lock it up and then we’re heading off toward the daycare. I’m surprised however to see Levi’s car out front of the building. Heading over there the door is pushed open. “Levi? What are you doing here?” I ask, surprised.
He rolls his eyes, “Don’t you remember? I told you I’d drive you.”
“I thought that was just a one-time thing.”
“No, do you want it to be?”
For a moment I’m about to debate it but a cold wind brushes past us, making me shiver and Benji whimper. Without another word I duck into the car and shut the door behind me. “Thank you again Levi, this is really nice of you to do.”
He shrugs, “It’s nothing really.”
I shake my head at his stubbornness but none the less buckle Benji and I in. Benji looks happy as can be as he watches the city drive by. He never really had been in a car but a handful of times. “Mama look! Big!” He points to one of the skyscrapers and from the corner of my eye I see Levi quirk a smile.
