Curt scurried down the road, running fast and clutching the abnormally large book to his chest. His lungs were slowly running out of oxygen, but he did not stop even for a second. The task at hand was extremely important to him, and he wanted to fulfill his mission. The house in the distance became closer and closer as he ran towards it. Eventually, he finally made it to the doorstep of the relatively small residence. Curt knocked on the door, and his head dropped down as he desperately gasped for air.
The door opened to a rather concerned Roland. "Curt? Hey! Are you okay..?" He walked out to the doorstep and placed a hand on his shoulder, making Curt look up at him with a faint smile. His face was gleaming with sweat and his breathing regulated a little. "H-Hey...Ro..." Curt positioned himself back to normal instead of a hunched down stance. He pushed his bangs out of his face and held the book close. Roland grinned in relief and removed his hand.
"You sure did run here fast. What's going on?" Roland asked, and his eyes scanned the odd book in his arms. Curt walked up to him and leaned in, planting a sweet kiss on his cheek. "I just wanted to tell you happy birthday, Ro. I even brought you a gift." "I can see...a book?" Roland pointed at it. Curt held it out, a small piece of tape on the top with somewhat neat handwriting read, 'To My Dearest, Roland Orzabal'. Roland read the words and felt a small blush creep up on his cheeks.
"Why don't we go inside and read it?" Curt dragged him in after saying that, not giving Roland time to respond. The two slumped onto the loveseat together, sitting close enough so the book can rest on their laps. Curt opened it and there were pictures taped on the pages. It looked like they were from their first concert together. Roland looked closely at the photographs and his heart felt warm. He smiled widely and pointed at one. "Wow, that's us performing for the first time. You look adorable."
Curt shook his head. "Thanks, but today is all about you, Ro. You're the adorable one." He swing his arm around Roland, who in turn chuckled quietly. Roland flipped through some of the pages, pointing and commenting on some of the photos they had together. It felt nice looking through some of the old memories the two friends, well, boyfriends, have made together over the years. They continued to scan the book until they reached the end, with a picture of the two boys kissing happily and embracing each other.
Roland felt a tear form in his eye as he glanced over at his boyfriend. "Curt, this is the best gift anyone has ever gotten me." Curt grinned and placed his hand gently on his cheek, rubbing it gently with his thumb. "I'm so glad you love it, Ro." "I love you." Roland leaned in slowly with his lover, and they shared a passionate kiss together. They pulled away and hugged warmly. "I love you too." Curt said, snuggling Roland in his arms. The two moved away enough so they could look into each other's eyes.
"Can I stay for dinner?" Curt asked happily. "Well, yeah. Manny and Ian are coming though, so..." "Oh. That's fine. We can have our own little party, us 4." Curt laughed and so did Roland. "Hah...yeah." The pair looked into each other's eyes and embraced once more. Roland felt very happy with his new gift, and vowed to never lose it. He would treasure it with all of his life.
(Hey all! I know you wanted me to update my other story, "Cold", for Roland's birthday, but today is a busy day for me. I whipped up this little oneshot though, so I hope this suffices for now! Thanks! <3)
