Damn it! I was sitting at a table in the cafeteria when people actually sat with me. Twins, at that with their cousins and stuff. I just wanted some food. The male twin had eyes so blue they were silver and the female twin had gorgeous blue eyes. I had to admit that they were gorgeous people.
"I'm Nena," the girl had introduced herself. "This is my older brother Nicolai."
"Pleasure, my name's Vanessa." The longer they sat on either side of me the longer I felt strange and funny. This two looked to be around my age but to me they felt like children.
"Has Dennis or Damien told you your homeroom teacher?" Nicolai had a very deep voice and his build was quite intimidating. The girl on the other hand looked like an angel. Wow, way to be exactly the same mentally but different physically.
"Mr. Regia, I think. Then Ms. Regia was my combat teacher and my counselor is Mrs. Regia." I recalled and they stared at me.
"Mr and Mrs. Regia aren't married. Mrs. Regia is our mom, she goes by Alyss by all her student and friends. Mr. Regia is her brother-in-law, your homeroom teacher. Ms. Regia is actually Mr. Regia but in order for everyone not to get confused my dad decided to go as Ms. Regia." Oh, so there are Regia children. Great, an entire squad of family ties is at this school. Nicolai nudged his sister and Nena made a knowingly look. "Our homeroom teacher is the same, Mr. Regia can be strict so be careful."
"I doubt he'll do much to me," I told the twins who nodded and their cousins got out of their conversations and looked to me. "What?"
"Nothing, we just think you may be right."
This is getting weird.
"Vanessa, do you maybe want to hang out some time?" Nena caught my hand before I could leave. "There's a river right down the path."
"Sure, why not." I told them where my room was and left.
Going out to explore I found a trail leading up to the mountains. No one was even trying to get by. I was about to go up but of course I was stopped, Damien looked down at me with a smile.
"That's off limits until, Mr. Regia gets back with the rest of the staff." Damien told me and pointed towards the other trial. "Nena and Nico told me they'd show you the ropes of how to get by. They'll show you the mountains when the staff gets back."
"Fabulous," I grunted as he led me down the rest of the trail.
Looking at the dragons I felt somewhat better about being here. This place gave me a headache. Crossing my arms I growled and headed back to the North Wing to my room. I stayed inside while everyone enjoyed the snow outside. I tidied up the room and made some more room. I was laying on my desk passing out when there was a knock. I groaned in response and the twins walked in. Instead of seeing teenagers I saw toddlers. Blinking a few times I saw the teenagers and I felt...hurt. What is wrong with me!?
Looking outside the sun was setting. How long have I been couped up! Cleaning really does take a while.
"Ready to go?" Nicolai helped me off my desk and I nodded.
"It's been a long time since we've last been in here." Nena pointed out and I looked at her surprised. "Let's get going." Nena widened my door and we headed out.
The trail was clean and incredibly large. Wide enough for six people to walk freely shoulder-to-shoulder. Nicolai and Nena were actually pretty nice people to talk to. Completely full of happiness and it felt like no one could falter that happiness. I wish I had that kind of love. We ended up laughing all the way to the river, because Nena had accidentally tripped having Nicolai catch her but then me knocking him over and he face planted into a pile of snow. Nena kept apologizing, I just couldn't gather enough oxygen to speak.
The river was frozen over and I just couldn't understand why. It wasn't cold enough. People were ice skating and playing hockey on it. As I wandered away from the twins I got further away from the main group. Looking further away I saw that the rest of the water wasn't frozen. Just the water that was being used for jockey and skating. What is going on?
I sped walked back over to Nena and Nicolai who were rooting on teams. I scratched the back of my head unsure of what was going on. Suddenly my chest felt heavy and I knew someone was coming over to the school. Grabbing Nicolai's elbow and Nena's jacket I wasn't even looking at them I was looking at the mountains.
"I'm going to go grab food, want anything?" I asked the twins and they shook their heads as I left. When I was no longer in sight I headed towards the mountain trail but I saw Dennis and Damien talking over there I headed towards the East Wing where the cafeteria was.
Those four dragons kept giving me the reassurance of some sort of protection. They seemed to just stare at me, but I noticed how everyone felt the same about the four great dragon statues. It's not like I'm any different than any one of this kids here. I'm just like everyone else. I locked away those feelings and ignored the dragons.
At night I couldn't fall asleep. I walked over to the closet and grabbed the man's jacket and slept with it. Never thought a person could sleep that well. Hanging up the jacket in the morning I saw no one outside. Ignoring the sign on my door that said not to leave my dorm I walked out.
I need to know what the hell is going on.
