Kayla's POV:
Stan was quiet as he drove to the school so Kayla took this opportunity to think about what they had talked about.
It was true that she had slept with Stan before she had really knew him. They hadn't been friends before they slept together so she really didn't know much about him, nor did he know her very well.
Kayla had no intention of giving up on Stan so easily; "he just needs time to figure out how he feels," she thought.
She considered herself to be a pretty good judge of character...not counting that bitch Charlene, and she was pretty sure that Stan was a good person. She thought about how he had stopped himself from having sex with her in the park and she could tell that he felt guilty about that even though she had been more than willing.
Kayla didn't think that Stan knew what love was any more than he said she did, but he didn't seem to realize that. He was a player, and judging from his knowledge about sex, and knowing what made a girl respond, Kayla assumed he had been with lots of girls. So while her inexperience made her naive about love, his inability to comment to any of the girls he had slept with before her put him in the same position. He had never experienced love before either, so he didn't know what to expect.
"I think he's scared to fall in love," she thought as she watched him drive.
"He must care about me," she rationalized as she thought about all of the things he did that he didn't even realize proved it:
He was hurting...almost crying because he was jealous of Kenny, and then there is his reaction to me...he can't seem to control his feelings of lust...just from seeing me...from being around me, plus he admitted himself that he has trouble getting me out of his head.
"I think Stan needs a reality check," she smiled to herself thinking about it.
He THINKS he wants to see me date other guys. Let's see what happens when I actually do it.
"Stan, um, I hope you don't mind, but I'm supposed to tell Kenny if I will go to Paris' party with him this morning and I've decided to go," she told him.
"You should go," he replied. "I will probably take Charlene myself."
"Ugh," Kayla thought to herself. "I sure didn't want to hear that.
"I thought you were going to take her to the game Friday night," she replied.
"I was, but now I'm going to be playing with the varsity team, so that's out," he responded.
"OMG, Stan, you didn't tell me that!," she exclaimed. "That's wonderful, I am so happy for you!"
Stan looked at her in all her excitement; she did look happy...she looked beautiful.
"You've really changed a lot since we first...uh...since I first saw you," Stan said. "You were always pretty, but now you're beautiful. What caused you to change so?"
"You did Stan. You made me feel beautiful when I became a woman. You made me want to be beautiful," Kayla said softly, blushing at the compliment.
Stan sighed, it was going to be hard to control himself with her saying stuff like that.
Aloud he said, "With your new look, alot of guys are going to be after you now. Kenny sure was quick to notice you."
"Yeah, play that game," Kayla smirked.
Aloud she said, "Yeah, he did, but YOU noticed me BEFORE I changed how I look," she reminded him, "Anyway, I'm not sure that I like Kenny in a romantic way."
"So why are you going out with him?" he asked.
"Because he asked," she replied simply. "Plus, I don't really know him, I guess I could give him a chance."
"Kayla," Stan sounded serious, "Kenny's an okay guy, but he's a player, so just be careful, okay."
"Of course," she replied. "I don't plan to sleep with EVERY guy I go out with you know."
"Oh no, I didn't mean that," Stan assured her. "It's just, not all guys are nice guys, and some guys have trouble taking no for an answer."
Stan was thinking about what Juelz had said about slipping Kayla a ruffie. He didn't know if that's what Kenny was planning to do so he couldn't tell her that, but he did want to make sure she was careful.
"I think I can handle myself Stan, but I'll be careful," she promised him as they pulled into the parking lot of the school.
As they got out of the truck, someone yelled, "Hey Stan."
It was Matt, and June was with him.
"I'll let you talk to your friends," Kayla smiled at Stan as she prepared to walk
away, "Guess I'll see you around."
"Yeah," Stan said wistfully as he watched her leave.
