Lillie took a deep breath of the ocean air, looking up at the giant boat in front of her. Her mother was already on board, but Lillie remained, hoping that somehow, someway, she would come to see her off.
Why would she come? Lillie hasn't told her she was leaving Alola, so how could she know?
Professor Kukui put a reassuring hand on Lillie's shoulder, "They'll be here. Don't worry."
Lillie sighed.
As if on cue, Lillie heard voices, "Lillie!"
The blonde turned to see her three best friends running towards her. Moon and Hau were out of breath by the time they made it to Lillie.
Hau doubled over, "Lillie...can't...leave..."
Sun rolled his eyes, "You two need to lay of the malasadas."
Moon glared at her brother and punched him in the gut, knocking the wind out of him. She gave a dry chuckle.
Moon took a deep breath to compose herself and went off, "Lillie! You're leaving?! And you couldn't even tell me?!"
Lillie sighed and gripped the straps of her backpack, "I'm sorry, Moon."
Hau looked like he was going to cry, "Please don't leave!" He began crying.
Lillie gave Hau a hug, "Don't worry Hau! I told you that I won't be gone forever."
Hau tightened his hold on his crush, "You might as well be!"
After Lillie pulled away (with much resistance from Hau), she turned to Sun and gave him a hug as well.
"Stay safe. Have fun." Sun said, tearing up.
Lillie smiled, "You sound like Gladion...but quieter and less angry." She chuckled, pulling away.
Sun smiled, "I know you're strong enough to conquer anything thrown at you- you've proved it."
Lillie gave Sun another hug. Afterwards she turned to get in the boat.
Moon threw up her hands, "Hey! What about me?"
Lillie stopped dead in her tracks.
"Do I not mean as much to you as Sun and Hau? You told them you were leaving! Why not me?"
Lillie blinked away tears and turned to Moon, "I didn't want you to come..."
Moon's heart dropped, "Why not?! I thought we were friends!"
"We are!"
"Then why didn't you want me here?!"
"Because I knew it would be too hard to say goodbye to you!"
"Why would it be so hard?!"
To answer Moon's question, Lillie stepped forward and placed a short, timid, kiss to Moon's lips. She stepped away quickly, fearing rejection.
Moon blinked in surprise, hardly comprehending the gesture. Hau muttered a "Lucky..."
Blushing profusely, Lillie gave one last goodbye wave and went to get on the boat.
Moon touched her lips, "Does...Does this mean she likes me?"
Sun groaned and facepalmed, and the Professor just laughed.
The boat in front of the trainers began moving, and Lillie appeared on the deck, waving.
Hau and Sun rushed to the end of the dock, waving and shouting goodbyes to Lillie.
Moon sent Lillie a bright smile, raising her hand above her head and waving until Lillie could no longer be seen on the deck.
