MIA (Missing In Action)

Chapter 1 (FIRST MEETING)

Tears fall down her cheeks as she is forced to make the biggest decision in her life. She looks straight across from her and sees the one who has always been by her side who has always told her about how every girl since pre-school has flirted with him. Who has always been her shoulder to cry on whenever she missed her dad, or even when her brother becomes a jerk to her every day and night.

"Kate you don't have to do this," he said. "I'm sorry, I truly am" he continues.
'Sorry' she thinks, sorry for what, keeping the biggest secret of his life from her and just telling it to like everything he said is basically normal.

(LET'S REWIND BACK A LITTLE BIT)
This all kind of started when Kate was five and she, her mom and her older brother moved to Surman. She doesn't remember much but she definitely remembers when her mom called her up and showed her new room-
         "Kate honey can you come up here please"
As she came up and looked she was in awe of the pink she saw and her eyes brought to her window that was facing the neighbor's house and she saw a small boy peeking through his little window that's facing her new room, he looks about her height and her age. And that's how Kate Simmons met Ethan Marshal.

FIVE YEARS LATER (AGE 10)
"ETHANNNNN" Kate screamed her lungs out as she started hitting Ethan with a pillow on an another Friday night.
Ethan and Kate always had a sleepover every alternate weekend because every other weekend he would stay at his dad's house. Ethan and Kate realised as they grew up that they have many things in common.
"Shhhh! You guys, please stop making noises just go to sleep mom is asleep and I'm trying to study here" Megan, Ethan's older sister rolls her eyes. "Gosh I don't deserve this, just wished dad took you every weekend" her voice faded away as she walked back to her room.
They both can definitely agree on having crazy messed up families.

ETHAN'S FAMILY: Dad and mom divorced 3 years ago (which made Ethan very sad but luckily Kate was always there for him) He has an older sister, Megan who is very much into school and she needs A's in every single test and if she doesn't get it she makes the teachers give it to her (because she is a bossy nerd)

KATE'S FAMILY: Dad died when she was 5 (that's why they moved to Surman) mom goes to work 2hrs away from their house every week and comes back on weekends. Has an older jackass brother named Jason.

But that doesn't matter to either one of them how crazy their life is because once they're together it's them against the world.
Kate saw Ethan with his head down and upset. Whenever Kate comes over its basically like a daily routine for Megan to openly insult Ethan in front of her. (She doesn't know what fun Megan gets out of being mean to Ethan) Kate knows exactly what he was thinking and how he feels, after all who else better than her has been through this exact same situation by her brother.
"Maybe Megan is right nobody deserves to be friends with me" Ethan said sadly looking out the window.
"Maybe Megan is wrong, she clearly spends too much time on books that's why her only friends are her glasses and the math and science textbooks." Kate says as she hugs Ethan.
Ethan smiles and says "Kate have I ever told you that you're the bestest of the best friend I ever had!"
"Im sure I'm the only bestest of the best right?"
Ethan laughs as he rolls his eyes mockingly.
"Oh come on now it's not li-" 'Kate hears music'  "Ethan is that what I think it is" Kate's jaw opens as Ethan's eyes widen.
"UNCLE BILLY'S ICE SCREAM STORE!!!!!" Both screamed in joy as they run down the stairs.
"MOMMM" Ethan yelled.
"YA HUN MONEY IS ON THE COUNTER" Ethan's mom yelled back.
Kate and Ethan look at each other in surprise then shrugged and grabbed the money.
"Uncle Billy! Uncle Billy!" They jump in excitement.
"Haha hi Ethan and Kate" Uncle Billy with smile. "Is it the usual?!"
"Yes uncle Billy" they wait as uncle Billy is digging his hands in a compartment.
"Well here you go" uncle Billy pops out two popsicles; as they reach for it he stops them. "Uh nu-uh, what's the secret song??"
They look at each other and then they start singing the uncle Billy theme song. And they go back with their reward.
That's how Kate and Ethan's childhood friendship was they would tease and argue but deep inside they value their friendship so much it cannot be broken by anyone!
