This story is set after clifford kills him self but before fred gets shot. enjoy!

BETTY

"Oh my god Arch!" I laugh as we sit across from eachother in pops. "Elizabeth Cooper, grades are important! Friends are not!" He says strictly, imitating my mom. I shouldn't laugh but I can't help myself.

As we settle down and compose ourselves, my phone starts ringing. I pull it out and my moms face takes over the screen. We both look at each other and burst out laughing to the point we're crying.

"I'll be back in a minute." I tell him, still giggling, getting up from the booth and walking past another group of teens to the door.

PETER

I stare at Betty Cooper as she laughs uncontrollably with Archie Andrews. I barely listen to Flash as he goes on about nationals, for i'm too focused on the jealousy raging in my body. Her phone starts to ring and something on the screen triggers them to start laughing again.

Betty slides out of the booth and I watch her glide by me and out of the door. Suddenly, i feel a sharp pain in my left side.
"Ned, what was that for?" I demand. He looks back at me smirking. "Dude you're totally crushing on Cooper". He says calmly, the humour in his eyes giving him away.

My face heats up. "I am not!" I whisper yell. He laughs slightly. "You couldn't take your eyes off of her Peter." He says matter of factly. I roll my eyes at him, before eventually sighing.
"Fine, maybe I like how smart, and pretty, and nice she is". I give in quietly so that nobody else at the table hears.

"Care to share this conversation with the table? What are you hiding Peter?" Michelle interrogates, staring at me soullessly. I glance nervously over at Ned who looks at me expectantly, clearly enjoying this.

Michelle suddenly lets out a laugh. "Just kidding, I don't care." She says, turning her attention away from me. I laugh nervously and try not to get distracted by the blonde I see through the window.

BETTY

"Yes mom, i'm with Archie. We're fine, we're just getting some food at pops. Okay, i'll see you later". I speak into the phone before hanging up. I roll my eyes, making my way back into pops. Sometimes my moms over protective ways are annoying, but I know she does it out of love.

I step back into the diner, walking in the direction of Pop. I mouth in Archie's direction that i'm going to order another milkshake, to which he calls across the diner "Get me one too! Chocolate!"

I roll my eyes with a laugh, turning my head around to face Pop. "I trust you heard that?" I asked to which he chuckles softly, nodding. "Vanilla for yourself?" He asks and I nod with a smile as he gets started on my order.

I take a seat while I wait, my eyes curiously running over the customers in the diner. They eventually land on the same group of teens I saw on the way out, but this time I take the time to look at them. I recognize one of them as Liz Allen. I see her at River Vixen practices and we've spoken a few times but that's about it.

I don't recognize any of the others though. I glance at the textbooks they have spread across the table, with Riverdale High imprinted on the front. So they go to the school. As my gaze shifts from face to face, I notice one brown haired boy already has his eyes on me. I offer him a small smile and he looks down quickly. I look away, slightly confused.

"Here you go, Miss Cooper, one vanilla milkshake and one chocolate milkshake for the red head". Pop says, laying them in front of me. I grin and thank him before making my way back over to Archie. We sit and chat for another 5minutes before the bell rings, indicating the door has opened. I look up at the door and immediately jump up from my seat.

"Oh my goodness B!" Veronica yells from the opposite side of the diner. She walks over to my and pulls me in for a hug. When she lets go of me, I grin at her. "Veronica, I can't believe I haven't seen you all summer! I've missed you so much!"

"We weren't planning on staying all summer but New York is just so amazing. It would have been better with you there though!" She explains with a grin, before she glances down at Archie in the booth. "Oh, hey Archiekins." We all laugh at her boring greeting to Archie.

As he stands up and kisses her on her head, I take a moment to look around, and notice how big of a scene we've made. Everyone's eyes are on us as we reunite with Veronica. I look over at the group of teens as they watch us carefully. I tear my eyes away, returning my attention to my best friend.
