Stuck

There's a monster under my bed. There's a monster in my closet.

But this monster is different.

A thousand eyes, looking at every move I make. Ears as big as an elephant, hearing every creek and squeak I make. Claws as sharp as a pencil, ready to jump and rip me apart.

This monster can control me.

It takes over my life. It takes over many lives. It's not just under my bed or in my closet. It's in my brain, and it tells me what to think and how to feel. It tells me how to walk and what to wear. Making us forget who we really are. Shaping our personality into a person we never imagined to be. Into a fake. A clone. Making us wonder who we were before and where did that person go?

This monster is a part of me.

This monster is apart of everyone. Some monsters can be subtle, but others can be harsh and cruel. Some can control this monster, ignore it, but others aren't strong enough to stop this monster from tearing them apart. Judging everything they do, and kicking them down and saying they aren't supposed to wear that or they aren't supposed to be doing that. Making them crawl back into the monsters control.

This monster is many things.

This monster is everything. It's everywhere. When you look at your phone, when you listen to the radio, when you look at magazines. It's everything. The people you surround yourself with. The air you breathe. The commercials on the T.V. We see what we are supposed to do and what we are supposed to wear. And the sad thing is, we follow. We follow the monster and we pretend to be someone we aren't, just to fit in.

This monster is fear and greed.

We want to fit into the "group." We buy these clothes and these devices trying to look cool or just to blend in. This is the monster's doing. The monster wants us to be like sheep and stay in a herd. No one can stray, or else you're punished with the cruel hatred points and stares. With the deceiving whispers among a group of people who the monster controls.

This monster is irresistible.

It draws you in. Waving the key to "happiness" in your face. It makes you want to snatch it and run toward the door and unlock it. When the door opens, it's a whole array of bright blues and pinks. Everything is alright now. You are happy. Until those colors start to fade and you are bored, and you feel uneasy. You need something new. The monster comes back with another key. You want to feel the happiness again. You snatch it, and you run toward the door and unlock it. When the door opens, it's a whole array of bright blues and pinks. And then you realize, you're stuck.

You're stuck in a continuous cycle. A vicious cycle. You're never going to get anywhere. You have to break free. You have to get away from this monster. But how? How are we going to get away? How are we going to get away from the gravitational pull of the monster's claws? We are too afraid to go against this monster. We are too afraid to stand up and say "no." The most simplistic word "no." Why must it be so hard to say? Why can't it be easy?

We say "Don't be afraid to be yourself" but heck! Those who say it aren't themselves. They are the players driving you to be attacked and pulled apart. There isn't any truth in those words! Who are you kidding? This is all just one big joke! This is all an act! Like it or not. The monster didn't create this living. We did. We created the monster. We created this living. We created this whole act. We are afraid of this monster. Yet we are monster. Therefore we are afraid of ourselves, afraid of our peers. This isn't the monsters doing. This is our responsibility.

THE MONSTER IS US

We are the monster! We are the monster! Did you get that? Are you reevaluating your past decisions? Don't be a clone. Be a unique person. And I say this in its truest form: BE YOURSELF. We have to break from the chains of society! We have to speak with our pure voice. Be who you want to be, not who you have to be. In the end, you will look back and regret staying with the norm. Be creative. Be intelligent. Be beautiful. Be strong. Be evolutionary. "Be who you are, say what you feel, because people who matter don't mind, and people who mind don't matter." be YOU. You are creative. You are intelligent. You are beautiful. You are strong. You are evolutionary. You are you. Don't be afraid to make your own decisions and your own life path. We have to be the ones to break the chains and be free. Love people for who they are. We can't judge because then we just end back to where we are. Trapped, stuck with the monster. Grabbing the key and opening the door and being stuck in a loop, a vicious cycle.
