I felt the sharp intake of breath as I saw her sitting on the bench, at the end of the lake, feeding the ducks.
It was always so weird seeing a teacher outside of school.
I took my headphones out and walked over to the bench.
"Hi, Ms Jacobs." I smiled shyly, she looked up at me, her cerulean blue eyes gazing intently in mine.
I would never admit it out loud to anyone, but I kind of had this really huge crush on her.
"Arabella!" Her smile lit up her face and I breathed a silly sigh of relief that I wasn't annoying her.
"Have a seat." She patted the seat beside her and I sat down, folding my legs underneath me.
"Beautiful day isn't it?" she sighed softly, closing her eyes. She leaned back.
"It really is." I whispered softly, my heart was pounding. I had no idea what to say!
"Out for a run?" she asked, giving me a once over. I sucked my stomach in feeling self conscious. I can only imagine how I look! My blonde hair all damp and sweaty, at least I had shorts on, showing off my tan legs.
"Yeah, I like to run to destress." I admitted with a shrug. Man did I need to destress!
Her head cocked to the side and her eyebrows shot up again. I couldn't help but notice her dark brown curls that were up in a bun, small tendrils hanging down her face. None of us had ever seen her with her hair down.
"Want to talk about it?" she asked as she closed her sketch book. I hadn't even noticed it before!
"Out here?" I asked nervously. What if someone caught me talking to her? Oh my goodness!
She grinned.
"Scared people think you're a snitch?" She asked playfully with a wink.
My face flushed and I nodded. She got up and picked up her stuff.
"Follow me." she smiled.I followed her across the park, away from the sparkling lake. I glanced back, making sure I didn't recognize anyone before climbing into her black Cadillac.
"Buckle up." she glanced at me sternly. I quickly buckled up and gave a nervous laugh.
"You're not kidnapping me, are you?" I half joked.
She winked.
"If I was going to kidnap you, Arabella, do you think I'd really tell you?" she smirked shaking her head.
"Ye of little faith." she pulled out of the parking lot. "are you okay with going to my place? I'm not sure if anywhere else would be private. It is a Saturday afternoon."
My heart began to pound. I was actually going to Ms. Jacobs house!
"S-sure." I found myself almost stuttering. If anyone knew they'd be so totally jealous! Everyone, well all the boys at least, had a huge crush on Ms. Jacobs.
The girls hated her, with her dark curls and disturbing deep blue eyes, her slim muscular build. Everyone at school either wanted to date her or be her.
I, unfortunately, was caught up somewhere in the middle of that.We pulled up to two story house, the top floor's wall was made entirely of glass.
I gasped. How had I not even known this house existed? It was breathtaking!"Well, don't just stand there, Arabella." she smiled gently, her eyes darkened as I bit my lip nervously.
I followed her, walking behind her, carefully watching her hips sway as she walked gracefully. I tried to mimic it, but I feel like such a total camel doing it."Would you like some coffee?" she asked filling up a pot of water.
"Sure," I sat down at the counter watching her flit gracefully through out the kitchen.
"So what's up?" she asked cutting to the chase.
"Isn't this like, against the law?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
She turned to look at me.
"Arabella, it's only against the law if I seduced you." She shook her head and turned back to the cups.
"Oh..." I trailed off awkwardly, feeling my face flush.
"Sugar and milk?" she asked as if she hadn't just said anything.
"Yeah, uhm, two sugars." I mumbled.
She sat down opposite at the counter and placed the cup in front of me.
"So, what's up?" she asked, I watched as she curled her fingers around the cup, steam still rising. A small smile on her petite face."This is so awkward. You can't, like, tell anyone... right?" I asked, blushing yet again.
Why am I always blushing around her? She's only a teacher!
"Whatever we talk about remains between us, if it makes you more comfortable, I'm not your teacher right now, we are friends." she nodded.
I smiled at her.
"Well..." I began, taking a deep breath. "You know I'm dating Harry, right?" I asked, unsure of how much teachers knew exactly.
She nodded, her expression changing to something different. I wasn't quite sure what it was though. It was hard to read.
"Lately he's been wanting me to do things with him..." I bit my lip nervously. I can't believe I'm confessing this to my English teacher! I hadn't even spoken to Portia, my best friend, about this!
"But I don't want to, I don't think I'm into him like that." I blurted out my secret.
"What do you mean don't like him like that?" she asked carefully. I closed my eyes and took another deep breath.
"I think I might be gay. But I don't know! How does anyone even go about finding out if they are?" I asked throwing my face in my hands in utter dismay and embarrassment.
Oh my God. I just told my teacher something I'd never even admitted to myself.
I peeked through my fingers and saw her studying me curiously.
"How good are you at keeping secrets?" she asked carefully, placing her cup down and folding her hands in front of her all business like.
"Uh... I think I'm pretty good at it. I still have secrets kept from when I was 8." I mumbled nervously.
Where was this conversation going?"Follow me." she spoke clearly and I got up.
My heart pounding.
