The next day, Luke's third day at his new school, he met up with Calum, Michael, and Hannah at his locker.
"Ey, Luke, we've got this band," Calum murmured, as Luke unlocked his locker.
Luke looked up.
"You three?"
Calum nodded.
"The three of you, concentrating on one mutual thing, all together, without arguing? That's precious, Calum. Now let me get my biology text-books."
Calum pouted a little and shook his head.
"No, no no no, we have a band, I promise. It's all three of us... w-well, four of us, possibly?"
Luke raised an eyebrow, "you're asking me to join your band?"
"Well, we saw the rockin' calluses on your fingers, and it's obvious that you play guitar, and we need another guitar player. A-And a singer," Hannah explained, biting her lip.
"Why don't you just sing?" He asked Hannah. Hannah shook her head quickly, her loose blonde hair flying about her face.
"I can't sing a note, mate. It's up to you."
"Wow, thanks for the pressure," Luke rolled his eyes, piling his textbooks into his arms as he closed his locker, "I'll think about it, maybe."
Luke strolled to his biology class after talking to the three, and sat down in the back.
Ashton didn't sit next to him, though Luke knew he'd been spotted as soon as the older boy walked into the room.
"Hey. Ashton," Luke called, beckoning him over to sit. Ashton glanced at the boy sitting next to him, who looked grungy in a red plaid flannel, ripped jeans, and rather old looking pair of brown boots. His hair was a mess, Luke noted, reaching up to stroke his perfectly smoothed blonde hair.
Ashton slid into the seat next to Luke a minute later.
"Hi," Ashton murmured, pressing a petite kiss to Luke's ear. Luke scrunched up his nose and scooted away.
"I thought we weren't doing that."
Ashton shrugged.
"Doesn't mean that I can't," he raised his eyebrows tauntingly, and Luke frowned. This was the Ashton everyone else knew, the Ashton that Luke hadn't quite seen yet.
"Maybe you should go back and sit with your hobo friend up there?" Luke was suddenly fired up.
"That's Harry, now calm yourself, Luke. The only reason that I'm sitting here is because I wanted to talk to you about something."
Luke sighed, and leaned his cheek into the palm of his hand boredly.
"Okay, go ahead, Sir Irwin."
"Luke, I want to talk to you about the night that I took your virginity... a-and please know that-"
"Alright, class. Take your seats, please, class is starting."

When biology class ended, Luke had been flanked with little slips of paper with Ashton's scrawly, yet legible handwriting.
Apologising.
Luke swallowed as he reread the letters to his friends during lunch.
"Wow, he seems really... ah... apologetic?" Hannah elbowed her boyfriend in the stomach.
