The hardest love is one that isn't returned.

Something you give freely, only to be badly burned.

And when you think about how it won't work your stomach begins to churn.

But your dumbass keeps doing it, you never seem to learn.

Its impossible to stop yourself it doesn't matter if you're stern.

If the path to climb where dark- you'd go on to get your lantern.

You gather Rope and your heart- Prepared to climb to Saturn.

But confusion and Impossibilities continue to weigh you down.

The one that makes you laugh is also who makes you frown.

You see yourself happy but instead, it makes you sad.

Daydreaming of things that both of you could have had.

But reality sets in and with it a cold layer.

The kind that sits at your core, like an inescapable snare.

If brought up in conversation it might be too much to bear.

Chancing to lose that person who never knew you cared-

In the way you do but you keep your mouth closed and smile bright.

When with them you don't want to see the truth behind a dying light.

But if it's for them you'll always shine bright.

You simply aren't the person that they want in their life.

If you picture a scene in your head it still seems out of sight.

As if looking through a frayed veil seeing only a dark night.

So you grab your pen and sword preparing for a long fight.

Ready to help against any monsters that should try to harm them or cause plight.

Your brain or your heart which one do you listen to?

Each has gotten you in trouble before so is there a different view?

It's like walking to a crossroad and instead finding a church pew.

But god isn't real so a lot of good that does you.

So now you're back to square one thinking of options.

But they don't exist instead you're dealing with goblins.

The demons in your brain, not allowing rest.

Beating you with clubs and bats-

While claws rip open your chest.

Then you hear a splat-

-and see your heart on the floor.

The funniest part to you is you suddenly don't care anymore.

Or that's what you tell yourself while slamming your head in a door.

Your brain hurts feeling splintered and sore.

Tears cloud your eyes but not from the pain.

You know you won't see them again and it drives you insane.

They have their own life you can't be a part of so you stain-

The floor the wall and even bed frame.

Suddenly you hear a crack and feel something drop.

It's your brain you thought the throbbing'd never stop.

Finally, it falls out and hits the ground with a subtle plop.

Finally, the light fades and you feel.. nothing .. it finally stops.

It seems we need to lose our heart not to care, and our brain to stop our shadows.

But that's not fair, so you bring them all to the gallows.
