Chapter 82

Left off: Jane walks into the room and sees Michael!

There he was. The love of her life. The man she cared for. The man she wanted to grow old with. The man she lost her virginity to. The man she wanted to go up to and say, "What the hell?" But either way, there he was. Jane runs into his arms in tears and felt so warm inside. Rafael, on the other hand, was in the background scared as fuck. Why you ask. well, you see the way Jane hugged Michael made Rafael think that Jane might fall in love with Michael again.

Michael finally tells Jane to sit down because obviously, he had some explaining to do. The conversation started off with, well I will let them do the talking for now.

Michael: Jane, I'm so sorry, but I had no choice.

Jane: What do you mean you had no choice, Michael? What the hell is all of this? (sobs)

Michael: It was either you and Mataeo or me.

Jane: What are you talking about?

Michael: Ok, (sighs) I used to work with a guy named Richard when I was a cop. He was friendly and we were very close. One time we worked on a big robbery case together and I let the robber get away. I knew for sure I'd get fired but turns out Richard and my boss were childhood friends so I asked him to take the blame for me because my boss would not fire him. About a year later he got fired for working with a big drug dealer we were trying to catch. But I still owed him for taking the blame for me. Years passed by and when we got married, Richard contacted me again and told me what I had to do to pay him back for taking the blame for me. To this day I don't know why but Richard wanted inside information on some other guy which Richard wasn't able to get. He said that I have to fake my death forever and go undercover and get that information. I told him this was way more risky than what I asked him to do and also I would have to leave you and Mataeo forever for the stupid undercover job. He then threatened to murder you and Mataeo. Of course, I couldn't say no in that situation so I went with his plan. I have been doing this for the last 4 years until I found out Richard passed away. Which meant I could come back. I booked a flight and contacted Rafael and here I am, Jane.

I know right? Straight out of a telenovela, which this is. Anyways Jane starts crying again and asks Michael why he didn't tell her, and he responds with an, "I don't know". Are you kidding me, Michael? The love of your life is sitting there crying and you respond with an, "I don't know"?! Men am I, right? Anyways Jane tells Michael she tells Michael she needs time to think and so she leaves the house in tears.

You know what? This is getting depressing. Let's check in on Xiomara. You may recall she has breast cancer and does not feel well. Anyways she is at the family home with Alba who is now legally an American citizen. So those two are on the couch, binge-watching telenovelas until suddenly Xiomara starts crying. Alba immediately notices and turns off the TV. You know what I'll let those two talk it out.

Alba: Ay, Xiomara, que paso? (Ay, Xiomara, what happened?)

Xiomara: Creo que me estoy dando cuenta de que podría morir. (I think it's just occurring to me that I might die)

Alba: No Xiomara. De hecho, debería sentirme así. Pero mírame. Me mantengo fuerte. Tienes una larga vida por delante. (No Xiomara. In fact, I should feel that way. But look at me. I keep myself strong. You have a long life ahead of you.)

Xiomara: I just feel like my life is over, Ma.

Alba: No te preocupes estoy aquí. (Do not worry. I'm here)

Aw, what a cute mother-daughter moment. Reminds me of my own mother. Right than Jane comes home feeling surprised, angry and so many other things, but mostly hurt. Hurt that Michael never told her. Hurt that he just left her like that. Hurt that all this time he never contacted Jane. Even though Michael did this mission for her own sake, it would never hurt to tell her. She doesn't tell Alba and Xiomara yet because she wasn't sure that she was allowed to tell anyone yet. Jane goes straight to her room and has a complete meltdown when she gets a text from Rafael.
