Chapter 9 (Love song)

I slept late last night. I was too busy writing a very special song for my friends, plus I was too excited for my plan. I even woke up before my alarm and texted Shawn.

{You ready for today?!}

He replied within seconds.

{Yup! Are you sure you want to do this?}

{More than sure}

And with that, I got ready for school.

At lunchtime, I raced to the band room without even thinking twice. Shawn wasn't there when I arrived but that gave me more time to get ready. As I set up the piano and my song book, the butterflies in my stomach were flying like crazy. I was excited for this plan but yet I was nervous to. I slightly jumped when the door opened and Shawn along with my friends piled in. Shawn smiled reassuringly at me and I smiled back with ease. I shouldn't be nervous about this, this is my time to shine. Leah and Keira sat in front of the piano (both looking like they'd rather be somewhere else) and Shawn moved a chair beside where I was sitting. Katie sat beside him, and I couldn't help but notice her making her knee rub against his. What the hell. But he turned to face me, causing his knees to move away from her so, to bad for her.

"Ok, so I've been thinking" I started

"About how you guys told me that I should write more love songs. So, I did! And this one is dedicated to the three of you, Keira, Leah and Katie!"

As the words came out of my mouth, they all started smiling and they started to look like they actually wanted to be here. Perfect, that's exactly where I want them. I smiled at all of them (especially at Shawn) and then I started to sing.

"Head under water

The breathing gets harder, even I know that

Made room for me but it's too soon to see

Blank stares at blank pages

I stopped singing and looked up to see their reaction and I had to stop myself laughing, and by the looks of it, Shawn was too. Keira's eyes were huge and her jaws were basically touching the floor.

Leah looked like she got slapped in the face and Katie was angry. Her fists were clenched and she gritted her teeth. She got up so fast that it knocked the chair over and she left the room and slammed the door so hard I'm surprised it didn't break off of it's hinges. Leah and Keira left after. Once they left, me and Shawn couldn't hold it in any longer and we both broke down into fits of laughter. Shawn laughed so hard, he fell off his chair (and nearly hit his head on the piano) and landed on the floor which only made me laugh harder. We eventually stopped when our stomachs started to hurt and our eyes started to water from laughing too much. Both of us stood up and high fived each other, but when I high fived Shawn, he grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug. I have to admit, that was the best time of my life (the hug and the payback). But suddenly, I started to worry. Knowing Katie, she won't let me get away with this. She's probably already making up a plan to make my life a living hell. So I hugged Shawn a little tighter, thankful to have him by my side. At least if she does try something, I won't have to go through it alone.

The song that Melissa sings in this chapter is called "Love Song" by (I think we all know who by now) Sara Bareilles. To be honest with you guys, this was a fun chapter to write. Any ways, what do you think Katie will do to Melissa? Do you think that she'll use Shawn against her? After all, both Melissa and Katie like him.......

Or do you think that she'll just start some rumours and talk trash about her behind her back (basically bully her).

Either way, she's not going to let Melissa get away with this.
