>>ASHLYN'S POV<<

I couldn't do anything but stare up at the small smirk present on Adam's face, my eyes wide and my mouth slightly open. Nobody has ever, and I mean ever was able to see through my disguise.

He touched my long hair slightly, his smirk growing wider. "Wow, would you look at that? I was right."

Adam didn't seem like a bad guy, he sounded more shocked than anything, as if he couldn't believe it, but I couldn't shake the fact that he was now a potential threat.

"You're quite beautiful, you know, what's your actual name? Because, clearly, it's not Pete," he asked, still touching my hair carefully, but I didn't budge.

It's not worth the risk. I thought, still standing still. He managed to look through my disguise, what else could he do?

"Please stop," I muttered, tensing when he didn't move. "I don't want to hurt you, you know."

He scoffed, raising an eyebrow. "You think that I'd be able to believe that a small little girl like you would be able to even lay a finger on me?" He shook his head, laughing slightly. "Cute."

I don't want to fucking hurt you, idiot, just let me be. I thought. "Please don't tell Jordan, or anybody, please," I pleaded, feigning weakness to appear more desperate, hopefully convincing Adam to not tell anyone. My voice was now its normal tone, not the more masculine tone it usually held.

He narrowed his eyes at me, stepping towards me. Make a fucking move and you'll regret it. I thought, my fists already clenching.

"How about," he began, trailing his finger down my hair. "you do me a favor," he continued, stepping even closer to me as I tensed, "and I'll let this slide," he finished, pushing me against the wall forcefully and immediately trying to rip the sweatshirt I was wearing off.

I remembered all the times the men hiding out in the alleyways after a night of poker thought I was a reasonable target, grabbing me immediately and attempting to play with me like a toy.

My reflexes immediately reacted and I raised my fist, gathering all my energy and dealing a harsh uppercut to his jaw. He stumbled backwards and tripped on his own foot, falling to the floor.

I immediately grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him up forcefully and pushing him against the wall, the back of his head banging against the chipping paint.

His eyes were wide and panicked, and I clenched my teeth, hissing, "Say a fucking word to anybody about this, or who I really am, and you'll be saying goodbye to your little friend down there."

I finished the sentence as I brought my knee forcefully up to his crotch, and he doubled over in pain.

He fell to the floor, hunched over, and I grabbed his collar in one hand once again, holding his wrist with the other, twisting it slightly.

He squealed in pain slightly before I continued.

"Don't," I said, bending his wrist to the right, "dance," I continued, tugging it harder, "with," now pulling harshly, him gasping in agony, "the," I twisted it again, watching his face contort, "devil," I finished, the quote I gave every one of my attackers easily sliding off my tongue, giving his wrist one last wrench before he cried out in pain and I let him go.

"This never happened, got it?" I seethed, grabbing my hat and quickly transforming back into my disguise, glancing in the mirror momentarily. "Don't you dare say anything to anybody." I crouched down to face him, narrowing my eyes threateningly.

When he only glared at me, I kneed him slightly in the gut, a whoosh of air leaving his mouth before he nodded reluctantly.

"Good," I stated simply, standing up, reaching out to open the door.

When my hand rested on the rusty knob, he suddenly spoke up. "A devil can't hide her horns forever, you know."

I clenched my fists tightly before pulling the door open and exiting, leaving Adam in the small bathroom.

When I reached the table again, Jordan looked up from his food. "Where's Adam?"

I shrugged nonchalantly before responding, "Bathroom."

He hummed in response while nodding as I scraped the last of my eggs and shoved it into my mouth, hoping we could leave before Adam comes back out.

"I already paid, so we can leave now," Jordan said as I sighed in relief. As we were getting up from the table, I glanced at the clock. 8:12.

Damn. I haven't even had a cigarette yet and I already know it's going to be a bad day. I thought, listening to the bell ring as we opened the door to leave.

-

When we made it back to Jordan's, I immediately went to the guest room to light a cigarette, hiding the pack and set of matches I managed to smuggle into my pocket when we went to the gas station to get some milk.

I shut the door behind me, immediately sighing in relief as I tore open the pack, the fresh smell of nicotine filling my nose. I plucked one out, grabbing a match and lighting it, about to attach it to the end of the cigarette.

Suddenly the door opened behind me, Jordan standing there.

"Hey, I'm going to--" he began before he saw the lit match and cigarette dangling from my mouth as I whirled around. "Oh, hell no!"

He plucked the cigarette from my mouth along with the pack and set of matches in my hand, blowing out the fire.

"Hey! Seriously?! What the he-- Stop!" I exclaimed, trying to snatch them back until Jordan threw the contents out the window. "What the fuck, Jordan!"

"No smoking in my house, idiot," he scolded, turning back around and folding his arms.

"Stop acting like a grumpy housewife, would you?" I seethed, clearly pissed.

He rolled his eyes before taking a deep breath and saying, "I'm going to a friend's in a bit, so you better not do anything finicky while I'm gone, got it? That means no smoking, at all."

I glared at him before finally responding, "Fine. Jesus, stop PMSing, dude."

"I mean it, Pete," he said firmly, ignoring my remark.

"Alright, alright, jeez, don't get your panties in a twist," I retorted, motioning him to leave.

Once he left, I walked over to the window, pouting as I leaned outside and looked at the ground. "Sorry, babies," I said softly to the fallen contents that was resting on the far away pavement.

When I looked up, something caught my eye, and I glanced to the right, only to find Adam sitting at his window, clearly staring at me across the fifty or so yards between us. Except now, he was holding a video camera.

I narrowed my eyes while smirking. I flipped him off easily before leaning back in and shutting the door, still smirking.

Good luck catching this devil, asshole.
