"I know it's sudden but I really like you!" Your hands were clenched into fists at your sides, staring at Jin's chest with your heart pounding as you finally looked up to see the shocked look on his face before quickly you grinned and stuck out your tongue, "So what did you think of my confession rehearsal?"
The sun shone brightly through the windows as you laughed, slapping Jin's shoulder as you tried to calm your racing heart, wondering if he could hear it and know you were lying as you continued to pretend your confession was fake, "Did I make your hear skip a beat, Jinnie?"
Jin grinned at you, grabbing his bag from the floor and slinging it over his shoulder, "Are you sure that wasn't serious?" He winked at you before beginning to walk towards the dorm and you ran after him, trying to figure out if he was onto him until he turned around and winked "I'm sure whoever you like is a lucky person!"
You walked next to him along the sidewalk hooking your arm with his whilst leaning into his side wondering if things would be the same if he found out how you actually felt. Jin was chatting about his day only stopping to laugh at one of his jokes until he stopped walking and looked at you.
"You okay? Worried about your proper confession tomorrow?" Jin slug his arm over your shoulder and pulled you into his side with a warm smile, "It will go perfectly." You nodded with no conviction, busy in lost thoughts of the way he treated you differently to others, acting possessive when you were near other boys and taking out to eat and always insisting on paying.
Your classmates had agreed that he ticked all the boxes of someone who was romantically interested, so you leant into his warmth with a smile and walked happily next to him; hoping that tomorrow you would be more than best friends.
The rest of the walk you stayed silent, admiring the peachy hues of the sky and fluffy white clouds that loomed ahead, and the feeling of being next to the boy you liked with his arm over your shoulder. "Do you have a place you wished you could stay forever?" You asked thinking it would be have to be right now that you had finally discovered perfection.
“The dorm in the morning,” Jin replied, as you neared the building complex where you had been living with the boys until another place became available. Jin continued as he rustled through his pockets, “you know that time when everyone is just waking up, stumbling into the kitchen bleary-eyed and too tired to talk, that’s the best time.”
You laughed and nodded in agreement, walking through the door behind him to hear footsteps running through the hallway towards you, “you’re back Y/N!” Taehyung attacked you with a hug and only pulled away when Jin cleared his throat making him turn and smile at the eldest boy, “Hi Jin, sorry but Y/N gives better hugs,” he laughed and you squeezed him before pulling away to go to your room.
Jin called after you with a laugh, “Save all your hugs for me cutie, no one else deserves them!” You slumped against your door, head in your hands as you wondered how you would ever find the courage to tell him just how much he meant to you.
"I've liked you far too long to hide it." Your heart was racing, eyes shut tight as you opened you wouldn't have to tell that you wereno longer rehearsing but had somehow found the confidence to tell him how much he meant to you.
You were both standing in the empty conference room, the sky was cloudy and the rain started to patter against the glass as Jin’s face of surprise morphed into understanding.
“I’m cheering for you,” he grinned, giving you a thumbs p before grabbing his bag and placing it over his shoulder, probably trying to get you to be hasty about using your confidence to properly confess but you just stayed still, hands balled up with fear.
“Actually, I’m sorry.” you shouted, flinching at how loud your voice sounded in the otherwise silent room, “I’ve been lying because it’s always been you! I like you!” Your eyes widened at your own words, glancing up at Jin to see his reaction but you instantly noticed it was going to be bad news as his brow furrowed in thought.
“I’m honoured you feel that way,” he seemed to be struggling to find the right words and you backed away as you slowly came to the conclusion you were about to be rejected, “I love you so so much, and you will find the right person. But you’re like a sister to me,” Jin instantly stopped when he saw your eyes welling up with tears and he stopped.
Jin spread his arms open, assuming you would want a hug but instead you shook your head, “ I get it, don’t worry.” You choked on tears but didn’t look up at Jin again, “Give me some time to think about this.” You began walking out of the room, and Jin wondered if he’d ever seen you cry before that.
“Take as much as you need,” he muttered, but you were long gone and he was left alone in the room to wonder if he had handled the situation in the right way. But the image of your furrowed eyebrows and eyes swimming with tears was something he was sure would haunt him.
And it did, for weeks. That same day, you had moved out of their dorm, crashing in a friend’s apartment to escape the embarrassment of seeing Jin again. But it left him pining after you, staring at you in lessons instead of concentrating on the teacher and sleepless nights only being filled with dreams of you.
He knew he had messed up, you no longer hung around after class to talk to your friends and you never ate in your favourite cafe anymore; Jin hated it and the boys could tell by him becoming more irritable and the food being plainer and his temper was shorter.
“Just talk to her, so you messed up.” Namjoon groaned, slamming his fists on the table when Jin started copying his notes, “we all mess up Jin. Go make it right and stop making us suffer.” Yoongi nodded in agreement, flinching away when Jin turned and glared at him before laughing and nodding in agreement.
He jumped up from his seat, not bothering to grab his coat as he ran to the lesson he knew you would be in, sprinting as fast with the knowledge that the longer he waited, the more you were slipping out of his grasp.
When he finally made it to the door, Jin was doubled over as he tried to catch his breath, before deciding it was now or never, shoving the door open and watching everyone turn to look at him, “I need to talk to Y/N urgently.”
As his heart began to speed up for reasons other than his sprinting, he wondered how you had managed to practice confessing so many time to him and hanging your head, he watched you quickly walk out of the classroom to stand silently in front of him.
“I messed up, please forgive me,” you mumbled and Jin’s eyes widened in embarrassment, as he grabbed your hands, pulling them to his chest so you could hear the racing of heart that was so similar to when you had confessed to him.
Jin simply smiled and tilted his head, “I was about to say the same thing,” he leant forward and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, “I was confused and these past weeks have been hell without you. In this time I’ve realised just how much you mean to me and I feel the same way. I like you too and if you were a vegetable you would be a cutecumber, so want to grab noodles with me?”
