Chapter 1:
"Meredith, wake up sweetie. You don't want to be late on your first day of school do you?"
Hearing my mom say those words just made me crumble inside. It brought back all the memories from Grade School. One day you do something wrong and everyone makes fun of you the rest of the year. I couldn't help it.. It was just something I had to do. It effected my life and it still does today. You would think that because that happened I wouldn't get made fun of. But I did and that makes me dread school every single day. It's my senior year so I'm just going to try and make it through.
I managed to bring myself off the bed and into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and smiled. Walking over to the shower I unlocked my phone and turned some music on. Shower and music is just a perfect combination. I turned the water on and layed my phone on the counter. Got undressed and stepped under the water, letting it run down my back. It felt so good. I swear I stood under the water for about 10 minuets before my sister barged in.
"Meredith will you come pick me out something to wear?"
"Yeah just let me finish up here and I'll be in there!"
I keep telling myself to take it easy on Maci. I know what she goes through every day is though and I know I couldn't do it. Well, I kind of do.. just in a different way. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. So I know it's hard on her considering she's just in the 4th grade.
I finished up taking my shower and turned the water off. I stepped out onto the cold floor and grabbed a nice warm towel out from under the sink where I keep them. I wrapped it around my soaked body and walked into Maci's room. I smiled at her and made my way to her closet. Before picking something out I turned around to face her.
"Sweetie, what do you feel like wearing today?"
"I don't know."
"Either a skirt or a dress, you pick."
"A dress."
I smiled and turned around looking through her clothes again. I finally came across this little green dress with ruffles at the top. It was a cute dress as well, so it was perfect for the first day of school. I turned around and handed it to her. She thanked me and I walked back to my room.
I shut my door and dropped my towel. I out on some underwear and a bra and put my hair in a bun. I walked to my closet and grabbed some pink skinny jeans and a plain white loose shirt. It showed a little bit of skin but that's okay. I dried myself off some more and pulled up my jeans.. buttoned them and zipped my fly up. Don't want that un-done. I rolled the bottom up just a little bit to where you could see some of my leg. I then put my shirt on. To be honest. I looked quiet cute today!
I grabbed my makeup and some lotion and sat down at my mirror. I put lotion on my face and put my makeup on. Half way done I hear a voice from the doorway.
"Meredith, why can't I be as pretty as you?"
"Maci! How did you get in here? I didn't even hear the door open."
"I just opened it and came in. Sorry if I scared you."
"No no, your fine babe! Come here."
I patted my lap and motioned her to sit down. She did as told and I looked at her. I moved some stray pieces of hair out of her face and moved her hair to her left side. I looked into those beautiful brown eyes and smiled.
"Maci, your beautiful just the way you are. Don't think I'm prettier than you because I'm not. Your beautiful in your own way."
I smiled and gave her a hug followed by a kiss on the cheek. She smiled and sat down in the floor next to me and said she wanted to watch me get ready. I didn't mind.
I finished putting on my makeup and went into the bathroom. Maci followed me and sat on the toilet to watch. I started to blow dry my hair and every once in a while I would look at her and find her looking in a hand mirror and smiling. It made me smile to know that what I said helped her out. I finished up and straightened it. Making it look perfect. Once I was done I grabbed my white Toms and Maci's hand and we both walked downstairs.
I had 45 minuets to eat breakfast, get my bags together and drop Maci off at school and then go to school. I just told my mom and dad that we would stop somewhere and eat something. I grabbed my bag with all my supplys and my purse. Maci did the same by grabbing her book bag and we started to walk out the door.
"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!"
I rolled my eyes and turned around.
"What mom, we need to go."
"Get together, got to take a picture of my two favorite girls!"
I got closer to Maci and put my arm around her. We both smiled until the flash went off and almost blinded me. When we were done I gave my mom and dad a hug and we finally left the house and got in the car.

I walked Maci to her class and made my way to school. I arrived and parked with 10 minuets to spare. I guess that was perfect timing. I grabbed all my things and locked the door. Putting my keys in my purse. As I was walking to the door, I kept telling myself. This year is going to be different. I'm going to make it different. No holding back. It's going to change.
As soon as I walked in the door everyone turned to look at me. I guess I forgot to tell you something. I had changed a lot over the summer and a good way at that. I smiled and made my way to my locker. I grabbed the books I needed and put everything else in the bottoms stacked neatly. I put my purse around my shoulder and closed the locker door. Revealing Blake. The guy I liked last year.
"Hey Meredith, how was your Summer?"
"No, you couldn't even remember my name last year and now you want to talk?"
I rolled my eyes and began walking to class.
I knew this year was going to be different.
