Chapter 1: Welcome Home Girls

*Daryl's POV*

We're at the hospital. Helena went into labor three hours ago. The twins were due four days ago. I'm a little worried because Helena was still shooting up drugs while pregnant. Hayden is going to go to his friend Alley's house.

Hayden was so excited the day we told him he was going to have a sibling. He was even happier when we found out it was two. Though, his max happiest was when we found out it was two little girls.

Every time we'd go shopping, even if it's not for the upcoming babies, he'd insist on buying the girls clothes and stuffed animals. He even insisted I go pick each of the girls out a weapon as I had done for him. So, all three of the kids will have a knife, Hayden has a bow and an arrow quiver to match, one of the girls has a standard handgun, and the other a crossbow with an arrow quiver that matches.

I was snapped out of thought by Helena screaming in agony. I got up and went to her side, grabbing her hand to try and calm her.

"Are my three beautiful girls okay?" I asked my wife with worry seeping off my words.

"Oh, two are just fine! I do believe that they enjoy hurting me!" Helena screamed in more agony.

The pain in her voice didn't faze me. Hayden put her through more pain, he was a foot first breach birth. Also, she wasn't shootin' up drugs with him. For some reason, she started doing drugs when she found out she was pregnant again. I guess she didn't want to go through the postpartum depression again.

Helena let out another scream of agony and begged for an epidural. The doctors respectfully denied, telling her she was already nine centimeters dilated.

A different doctor came in about thirty minutes later and said that they couldn't move her into the birthing pools because the other doctor waited too long. A team of nurses and the doctor gathered at the foot of the operating table.

"Alright, Mrs. Dixon, on the count of three take a big breath and push. Hold that push for ten seconds." The doctor told Helena and she nodded.

"Alright. One... Two..... Three. Big push." The doctor said and Helena did as told.

"One... Two... Three... Four..... Five...... Six..... Seven..... Eight..... Nine... And Ten. Rest a minute." The doctor told Helena and at she lied back down and sighed.

"Alright. Let's do that again, but a bigger breath and a harder push. We want the first one to go as fast as possible so you're not tired for the second one." The doctor said and Helena groaned at the statement.

She took a deep breath and repeated the process again.

~ time skip to after both girls are born because I'm too lazy~

Helena held the second baby while I held the first one. The oldest has blonde hair and the youngest has dark hair.

"What do you want to name them?" Helena asked me while looking up to me.

I looked at the baby in my arms. She clung to me as if I was the only way she could live a single second. Then I look over at the one in Helena's arms and saw how she didn't seem to trust her mother. They both were shaking slightly. The doctors said that it was normal for babies born with an addiction that they are detoxing from.

Helena stopped doing drugs two weeks before the babies were due. They were born three days after their due date, but somehow the doctor said they're four days overdue. That is typically unusual for a second pregnancy and really unusual for twins, but almost normal for babies born to a drug addict who didn't stop while pregnant. I looked back at the little girl clinging to me.

"Let's name her Alizabeth. And the one in your arms Nichole. No middle names because we suck at giving middles names. Hayden Leslie is a prime example." I said and she nodded.

"Hello there Nicci. Mommy is so sorry for doing drugs while pregnant with such a precious gift. I'll spend my life making it up to you." Helena told Nichole and I looked at Alizabeth.

"Hello, little Ali. Daddy loves you so much. I'll teach you everything I know about hunting, tracking, and lots of other red neck outdoor things. I'll never let a single thing hurt you." I told Alizabeth and she smiled and cooed at what I said while nuzzling closer to me.

She stole my heart from the second I held her. As did her twin, but more so Alizabeth because Nichole seemed to not trust anyone that held her, so I had more of a bond with Alizabeth.

~another time skip, the twins come home~

I carried both the car seats and Helena walked into the house and straight to her stash of heroin. I carried the girls to their room and lied them in their crib.

Yes, they share a crib because I read somewhere it builds a strong bond between twins. Helena wanted two bassinets in our room and two cribs for when they got older, but nope I was the one doing the nursery, so I got the final say.

They cuddled up to each other and went straight back to sleep. I smiled and left the house to go pick up Hayden. He stayed the week at Alley's house so he could go to school because we were at the hospital with the twins.

Once we got home we did a sibling photoshoot.

After an hour of taking photos and posing the three kids, it was all worth it. The girls are so photogenic. Nichole was the more girly dressed one and Alizabeth was the more male looking. Hayden loves his two little sisters so much.

"Daddy, what are their names?" Hayden asked as he helped me put the girls in the crib.

"The lighter-toned hair is Alizabeth and the darker-toned hair is Nichole," I told Hayden.

He smiled and kissed each of their foreheads before I pulled the side of the crib back up.

After an hour it was time for Hayden to go to bed. I walked with him to his room and made sure he was all set for bed. We said good night and I cut the light off.

I walked to my room and sat on the edge of my side of the bed. I have a son, two daughters, a drunk and drug addict brother, and a drug addict wife. What a life, but I wouldn't trade my kids for the world.
