Chapter 29 Let It Consume Your Soul (edited)

"Ah, good evening sister, I believe it's been quite a long time." "So, you're the one they call Ratchet?" Smirking to himself, Ratchet bowed to Callein. "That's my name. my oh my, you are a beauty. No wonder master wanted you all to himself. You were truly the joy of his life." Callein froze, those words shook her to the core. "you- you knew him?" "Oh yes, I knew all about him and I know all about you. You were supposed to be the perfect couple, after your transformation into a Servamp you were supposed to turn our master into your subclass that way, you could live forever, together, happily in love. But- that all changed when you died~"

Ratchet smiled at Tsurugi who now laid on the floor in pain, then to Callein. Ratchet's smile was almost chaotic. "You see dear sister when you died our master went crazy. He thought that the reason your experiment failed was because of the Servamps themselves. He could not figure out why our older siblings lived but you did not. He had no clue at the time, but the reason behind it was because of your illness. He tried to turn you into a Servamp while you were dying. He couldn't save you. In his state of mind, he lost his humanity. The man you once loved became nonexistent. He drove our other siblings away and after that, he tried to kill our oldest sibling Fear. However, only our kind can kill one another, so he created me."

Callein interrupted him, "So you were created to kill her?" "Not just her, but the whole Servamp family as well. They are the seven deadly sins just as we are the seven main emotions. We were based off those Servamps, but some of the pieces were missing in the blueprints, that's why you were so flawed and that is why you suffered the fate of death, or so we thought." Ratchet tilted his head at her in astonishment then looked to Tsurugi once more.

"I bet you never knew what happened after you 'died'. Just a few days after you died Fear escaped from her cell one night, she was going to escape for good, but master caught her before she could getaway. He grabbed her and tossed her into the wall. He told her to go back to bed but then she grabbed a book out from her cloak. It was the journal our creator kept the blueprints in. She proclaimed that she would give the blueprints to the C3 organization and she would show them the home where he conducted his experiments.

Master was furious. He threatened her that he would kill her, but she knew that he could not kill her without me. As quickly as she could Fear kicked down our creator and ran out of the home. Master was frightened for his life, so frightened that he killed himself as I watched from the slightly opened door. I didn't think it would escalate as it did. I just wish I could have stopped him from killing himself. I wish I had killed Fear while I had the chance, but for some reason, our creator wanted to keep her around. She was the original."

"My fiancé killed himself? Because he was frightened?" "that is true." Callein was astonished, how could he kill himself? How could he become so crazy? There was only one answer that kept popping into her mind, the answer was fear. Callein groaned and fell to her knees, this feeling; was it sadness? Longing? Grief? Maybe all, but one emotion was clear to Callein, she was angry. "How could Fear. He was the person who brought her to life. He was her master, yet she was the one who forced his hand. Why was I not there? I wish I would have awoken. I would have done something!" "You still can dear sister."

Reaching his hand out to her Ratchet bent down eye level with Callein "My dear sister, it is my power to amplify the feeling of anger, let it consume your soul. Let the anger flow through you and take control. When you do this then I will take you to Fear and we will destroy her together. we will torture her the same way that she tortured us by taking master away. What do you say?"

Callein looked at Ratchet's hand thinking for a moment until a voice spoke up jolting Callein out of her thoughts. Tsurugi was holding his side as he stood back up. "Callein, please don't do this. Ratchet is evil, he will do anything for Revenge. There will always be anger in the world but that does not mean that you should take revenge on your sister. She was only defending herself. That happened so long ago, you have changed. Your master is gone, he took his own life, it's done! You need to let it go!" "no Tsurugi you're wrong. I've been in a death-like slumber for so long, I never changed at all. Everything changed, and my mind is clear now; I need to destroy my sister before she destroys anything else. Then I need to destroy those Servamps for ruining our family!"

Callein tangled her fingers with Ratchets. Laughing to himself Ratchet picked up Callein and wrapped his arm around her waist protectively.

"Wonderful, I suppose it's time we have a ball~" With a flash of red light, the pair was gone.

Tsurugi growled and looked at his fallen comrades. Some of the men were spared; however, most of them died where they stood. Ratchet did not care if those men had families or not, he was the Servamp of anger, he only cared about one thing and that was to seek revenge on the people who done him wrong. "Damn it!" Growling to himself Tsurugi quickly rushed to the main office.

Toma the boss of C3 stood before Tsurugi, a hint of annoyance ghosted on his face as he puffed on his cigarette, "what happened and how did that monster escape? You were supposed to be watching him at all times Tsurugi. I expected this type of failure to come from one of the lower rank agents, not from C3's top field agent." "There's no time for pointing fingers, we need to alert every C3 member that those two will be at the ball tonight!" "how do you know Tsurugi?" "Because I'm the one who said something about it! I was talking to one of the other agents about the ball. I told them how Mikuni and Envy would be there with Mikuni's new friends. And if Jeje is there than the other Servamps will most likely be there as well. Before he vanished Ratchet said 'I suppose it's time we have a ball.'
