A new something I am doing. I thought it would be cool to do little fillers about more recent things. Not all of them will do this, but this is about something happening now that will bring back something else that won't really be explained in the actual story.

This event is happening right now as I type. Outside my window everthing is dark and smokey and I can hardly breathe.

Oklahoma coughed and covered his nose and mouth with his shirt. His eyes burned from the smoke and he felt his arm sting from a fresh burn beginning to form. He heard commotion coming from the stables of the house nearest to him and ran. There was a horse backed into a corner as fire swept across the barn. Oklahoma tore a piece of his shirt off and put it on the horses eyes, leading it to safety.

He watched the state burn. So far, about 100 square miles were burned, and fire was spreading quickly. Houses were burnt to the ground, and smoke filled the air across the state. He can't believe one of his own would do this. Someone had thrown newspapers out his window after lighting them up, and now he could feel the land suffocating. His people screamed for rain that they haven't seen for months. The sun turned red as blood. Oh God, why us? Everyone was flooded with rain, couldn't we have a drop?

Water is so underrated. It is the most important resource in the world, yet so many take advantage of it, even himself. Just one small rain, a drop, and this nightmare would end.

Nightmare.

The screaming. They ran down the streets. Fire was everywhere.

1921

They walked in with torches and burned the whole city. They had no reason, just hate. Why was this brand new state so divided? He didn't care if they were white or black. He had once been ridiculed for his race, he understood. But why?

He looked over just in time to see a man get shot. The man was a doctor. He was trying to help the wounded, but these white people didn't care. He looked around for the police. They were taking part in it, carrying torches and setting houses on fire filled with families and children. People were thrown onto the streets and kicked and punched until they died. Many were hung right on the side of the road. His head thumped and burns were forming on his skin.

Oklahoma stumbled around in pain. He put his hand on a nearby wooden crate and leaned on it for support. The smell of blood and smoke made him dizzy. There was also another smell... Oklahoma lifted the lid off the crate. Inside were 4 bodies of black men. There were seven other crates, all filled with bodies. He ran down the burning street. Screams filled his head. Tulsa was burning, and people were dying. He ran as fast and as long as he could. He knew he should be there for his people, but he didn't know what to do. He stumbled and fell onto the ground in a heap. There he blacked out.

When he woke up, he was still layed out on the street. The fires were dying out, and all that was left was rubble. The place was quiet. 'I couldn't help them,' he thought.

3 months later

They estimated that about 300 were killed, and 10,000 left homeless. They don't really know, because the don't really care. The whites said they would rebuild Greenwood, but they won't. The survivors are on their own. America, my so called 'father,' won't give them a dime.

Whites and blacks, most who were veterans, formed battle lines and dug trenches. It was and Oklahoman war. 35 city blocks burned to the ground. It was a nightmare.

Current day

Oklahoma sighed. That day was considered the worst riot in American history, and the second worst riot in the world. He looked up at the dry and smokey sky. He closed his eyes and listened to the sound of crackling from the fires. His hand clasped over the new burn on his arm. His eyes opened in a determined glare. He would never be useless again.

A/N: Tulsa Race Riot was the worst riot in American History. It was a terrible and shameful moment in Oklahoman history, built on racism and hate. It started when a black man stumbled into an elevator and grabbed onto the elevator operator. She helped him, but another man behind him took it as an assault.

8/8 UPDATE: The fires have pretty much died out. Around 190 families lost their homes. This does not include the various other structures burnt down. My aunt lost all of her outbuildings, her chicken coop, the trampoline, and one side of her house was scorched, but her husband stayed outside and kept the fire away from the house. I'm fine. My good friend had her whole yard burned but they kept the fire off their house, but I have about 4 other friends that have lost their homes. PRAY FOR THE OK
