08:34 AM

Luke Hemmings awoke to the sound of rustling near his ear, and a tickling sensation on his face. His eyes blinked open, only to encounter the bright orange fur of his chubby, yet cuddly cat, Pudge.

The man let out a chuckle as he picked the cat up and out of its cozy resting place, which was Luke's face.

Suffocating was a very effective way to wake a boy up, he thought tiredly. Luke's cat always seemed to know what was best for him, even if Luke himself didn't always agree with it.

"I had the best dream last night, Pudge," Luke told his cat as he held Pudge in his arm. "Do you want to hear it?" The cat hissed in response, but not before leaving a couple of scratches on Luke's cheek.

He let out a sigh and then winced from the pain.

Why does everyone leave always Luke? It just wasn't fair.

He shook the depressing thoughts out of his head and got ready to visit Skybaby, otherwise known as Sky, but he he preferred the nickname he gave her more than her actual name. His stomach growled in disagreement at his choice to visit Sky before he ate, but he ignored the sound. Today was Sky's birthday, the most important day of the year, and he wasn't going to delay it just because of the stupid fact that he was hungry. The idea was absolutely preposterous to him.

Sky was the most important thing in his life; he didn't matter.

After taking a quick shower, brushing his teeth, and getting dressed in an outfit that he knew would impress Sky, Luke quickly made his way to his car, ready to begin the long journey to Sky's home, a route he already knew by heart.

Obviously.

Although they would never say, his friends and family were worried about Luke. No matter what they told him to feel bad about himself, no matter how many times they scolded him, they were always worried. Worried that he would break one day, worried that he would go back to his old habits and become "old Luke," otherwise know as "Mr. I'm Luke Hemmings, I break promises, baby," the cockiest boy known to man.

As much as they hated that Luke, they would prefer that Luke over the new Luke, this Luke, any day.

They would never admit it, though, which was their big mistake...

It could have saved him.

Calum missed his cuddle buddy. In other words, Calum missed Luke Hemmings, the dork he was proud to call his best friend, the dork he met in the music room. He missed spending long nights with him, trying to convince the boy to cuddle with him, he missed him yelling "his band sucks" at him as a way to shoo Calum away so he could get some much needed sleep, he missed "cake," he missed the way Luke would make fun of him by calling him "Column" instead of Calum or "Mr. Tight and Bright" because of the music video they uploaded years ago, he missed the way Luke would look at him and vice versa during concerts and performances if they every got nervous, but most of all, Calum Hood missed his best friend, Luke Hemmings, the boy with the too bright and colorful glasses.

No, he wasn't in love with Luke (although he did love him in a friend way), he just missed him.

Calum Thomas Hood simply missed him.

When would he come back?

Michael Clifford couldn't believe he used to hate Luke. It was an odd thought to him, and the fact that it was once a reality seemed even weirder to him. Those two boys were the human versions of a vanilla cupcake and purple frosting with sprinkles- they were completely compatible. It hurt to know that he doesn't contact Luke as much as he should- as much he wanted to. Maybe if he wasn't such a coward, he would be able to at least talk to Luke, or even text him so they didn't have to see each other face to face! However, Michael was a scared coward, a stupid, silly, afraid coward, and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it except cry himself to sleep at night.
