My eyes are hard to open, like there's rocks in then. The pain rushes in as I gain consciousness . My body's moving but it's dark and smells like gasoline and cigarettes where I am. I try to move my head to view my surroundings, but it's difficult. I make out my hand and it's on something metal. I'm in the back of a van. How cliche. I try to turn over but I can't move; there's hands locked around my waist.
"You were out for a while." A voice from behind my ear creeps out. My body is numb but my stomach can't stop spinning. The panic finally kicks in when I piece together my last memories of what happened. I roll my eyes to look down and I can see rope around my jello legs.
"Please don't... don't hurt me." I can barely form the sentence. It sounds like I'm having a seizure.
"Don't be so dramatic." He whispers and kisses my cheek. "I gave you some medicine for the pain. We're almost there." He pulls my body that lays in between his legs closer to him.
My mind's racing a mile a minute. I'm trying to process it all but I feel nauseous and dehydrated. Why was he doing this? How did he get me here? Where were we going and who was driving? What was he going to do with me?" I keep trying to make myself into a cocoon to avoid his touch but it's no use.
A few minutes later I can feel the car stop beneath me. It's hot and I'm weak. I know I'm not strong enough to try to escape, not just yet. I hear the sounds of driver's side door close and footsteps to the back. The back doors open and I can see Killian's brother, Austin, grab my legs. I try to kick in his direction but it's not hard for him to secure me. Killian grabs me from behind and they slide me out of the van like luggage. Austin drop my feet to the ground dramatically and Killian picks me up, carrying me like a bride who just made it with the devil.
My head's against his chest for support. I can barely hold myself up. It's clear whatever was given to me was more than something for the pain. I can smell trees and hear the grass shake in the wind. We weren't in the city anymore, that much I know.
Killian carries me through a door and sets me on an old couch. "I'll get you water." His voice is meant to sound considerable but it sounds menacing to me. In a few moments he sits next to me and helps me hold the water. My teeth chatter against the glass but the water tastes amazing. I almost finish the whole thing.
"Where am I?" I ask him. He's running his fingers through my hair but I'm sitting looking away and as tense as my body will let me be.
"Destination spot on the country side. I figured getting out of the city for a little bit would give us a chance to talk." The sound of his voice makes me angry. I suck down my urge to do anything.
" I need food." I murmur. I still don't move or look at him. Killian sits in silence for a moment before getting up.
" Here." He says while he finally comes back. I turn to him and grab a bag from him. It's a cold burger and fries. I take it out and pick at the burger. Food's confusing my body but I know I'm hungry. I feel a little better after a couple of bites.
"We've both made mistakes in the past, Lainey. I love you so much and I'm willing to forget everything and start over." Killian's hand is on my thigh now. I couldn't be more unsettled than I was right now. No moment in my life has single handedly been this terrible. This is a man whose cheated on me, pushed me, hit me, drugged, and kidnapped me. He is sitting next to me in pure delusion. I don't know this man anymore. He's my enemy. Still, I strategize.
I know if I fight it could end worse but I can't bare forcing myself to fake any sort of real emotions for him. " I think it would take time and work." My eyes are glued to my hands that are now folded together. I know I need to keep myself together so it's believable. I need to make it out of here alive.
