Words of Love

Year 5

You lied on the seashore of Destiny Islands, eyes twinkling in excitement as you stared up at the beautiful stars that dotted the night sky.

"Ah!" you cried out in excitement, sitting up immediately as you saw a shooting star whizz by. You shut your eyes and clasped your hands together, whispering out your wish for the gods above to hear.

"So, what did you wish for?"

The sudden question from an unfamiliar voice caused you to yelp and leap to your feet, dashing to a nearby rock for safety.

"H-hey! Wait! Why are you running from me?"

You slowly popped your head out to peep at the person who had called out to you earlier, (e/c) eyes meeting a pair of bright cerulean blue ones.

The young boy slowly made his way towards the rock where you were and sat down next to you.

"I'm Sora!" he introduced himself to you brightly, "what's yours?"

"(Y/n)," you replied shyly.

"Nice to meet you, (n/n). You're really cute!" he said as he grinned at you.

You felt her cheeks heat up at the compliment and cute nickname that was given to you.

"Thank you, Sora."

"So what did you wish for?" the spiky haired brunette asked yet again, brimming with curiosity.

You just looked away from him, towards the sea. "Not telling," came your simple reply.

"Awww. Why not?!" he whined as he scooted closer to you.

"Because a wish won't come true if you tell anyone about it," you answered, "therefore it shall remain as a secret!"

"But, (y/n)! I'm the best secret keeper in the world! You can tell me anything! I promise I won't tell anyone! Cross my heart!" he cried aloud as he drew a small cross over his heart.

You pouted. "No."

"Please?" he tried once more as he shifted in front of you, leaning dangerously close as he gave you his best puppy dog eyes.

Still you shook your head and turned away from him, cheeks slightly flushed from the close proximity of someone you were unfamiliar with.

"Aw man! No one ever tells me anything!" he whined as he crossed his arms, sulking.

"Sora?" you called out to him tentatively, "what did you wish for?"

"Not telling~" he replied as he stuck his tongue out teasingly at you.

You puffed your cheeks out at his answer as you also returned the reply by sticking out your own tongue at him. At the sight of each other's funny face the two of you bursted into fits of laughter.

"Your face looked so funny."

"Yours too."

As your laughters died down you just grinned at each other. "I'll tell you my wish if you tell me yours, Sora. Deal?"

"Deal!" he nodded in reply as he shook your outstretched hand. A sign of agreement.

"I wished for a friend..." you muttered your wish out softly. "I'm still new to this place so I haven't made any friends yet."

Sora's eyes sparkled in delight as a smile made its way across his lips. "I'll be your friend, (n/n)! We'll be best buddies forever! I'll even introduce you to Riku!"

Your eyes widened at his sudden outburst before you broke into a smile that shone as brightly as the stars hanging above them.

"Really? Pinky promise?" you asked as you lifted your right pinky up.

"Pinky promise! I'll be the best friend you've ever had!" he grinned as he linked his pinky with yours.

Happiness bubbled up within you as you hugged the boy in front of you. "So starting today we're friends!"

He nodded in reply as he also squeezed you back. "Always!"

"By the way, Sora, what did you wish for?" you asked, titling your head to the side slightly.

"Hehe, I wish to go on an adventure! Along with Riku!" he exclaimed excitedly as he struck a heroic pose.

"Wow! Can I come along?" you asked earnestly.

"Of course! We're friends now! And friends always stick together!"

Sora stood up abruptly as be dusted the sand from his shorts. "It's getting late, we should return to the mainland soon," he said as he extended a hand to help you up.

You happily accepted it with a bright and earnest smile. And so the two of you walked hand in hand back towards the docks where your parents awaited your return.

Note: I probably should've mentioned it earlier but (n/n) means nickname just in case no one knows ahaha
