I wake up to the sound of my parents yelling at each other. Wonderful. I remove the sheets off my body, sit up, and swing my legs over the side of my bed. I sit there for a moment, debating whether or not I should leave my room only to hear my parents yell at each other. I choose to get up, and exit my room to use the bathroom.
I open my door slowly, hoping I don't attract any attention to myself. As soon as my door is open wide enough for me to exit, I quietly walk to the bathroom across the hall. I close the bathroom door and look at myself in the mirror.
"Wow, I Iook horrid." I say, disgusted by my messy hair and leftover makeup from yesterday.
I start to brush out my long brown hair full of tangles. After brushing my hair, I decide to re-do my makeup.
By the time I'm done applying my makeup, my parents have stopped yelling, so I exit the bathroom. I go to get my phone off my night stand and check the time. It's 6:30 AM. I have thirty minutes to get ready so I can get to school by 7:15. Class doesn't start till 7:30, but I would like to have a bit of time to say hello to my friends that I haven't seen for two months.
I look in my closet for something wearable. I see a black halter top, and take it off the hanger. I set my shirt down on my bed and look for a pair of black shorts to wear with it. I look in the drawers of my dresser and retrieve the black shorts. I get dressed and look for my Van's and put them on.
I open the door to my room and go downstairs, checking the time — 6:45. I have time, so I decide to eat breakfast. I grab a pop tart and put it in the toaster.
"Hey, sweetie pie. How'd you sleep? Are you ready for your first day back at school? Are you excited to see your friends?" My mom bombards me with questions as she enters the kitchen.
"Mom, chill." I say, laughing.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I'm just excited for you!" My mom cheers.
"I'm not." I say under my breath.
"What was that?"
"Oh, I was just saying that I'm excited too." I lie and give her a small smile.
I hear the pop tarts pop up from the toaster, making me jump a little. I grab a plate from the cabinet above me.
"Ow!" I put the pop tarts on the plate in the process of me burning my fingers.
"Careful. Don't hurt yourself." My mom looks at me.
I grab the plate and bring it to the table. I quickly eat and check the time once I'm finished.
"It's 7:00, Mom. I've gotta go." I say, hugging my mom.
"Bye, honey! Have a good first day back!" My mom waves to me.
"Later! Love you!"
"Love you too!"
I grab my backpack and head out the door. I get in my car and start driving to school.
As soon as I turn the radio on in the car, I hear my favorite artist start to sing. Halsey's song, "Roman Holiday" is playing.
"Do you remember the taste of my lips that night I stole a bit of my mother's perfume," I start to sing along with Halsey. "'Cus I remember when my father put his fist through the wall that separated the dining room."
A couple minutes later the song ends and one of 5 Seconds Of Summer's songs starts to play. Who are they? I listen to the song some more and end up liking it.
By the time the song is over, I'm just about pulled into my high school's parking lot. I pull into a space and get out of my car only to see that there's a huge crowd of people in one small area near the front of the school.
"Sophia!" My friend, Emily, calls out my name.
"Emily!" I yell, running over to her and giving her a big hug.
"Oh my god. I haven't seen you all summer, dude!" She reaches a hand out for me to fist bump.
"Oh my god, I know," I say and we both laugh. "Why is there a huge crowd of people over there?" I ask, pointing to the crowd.
She turns around to look.
"I don't know," she shrugs. "Let's check it out." She starts walking towards the crowd.
Emily and I push through the crowd, and end up in the middle of it. Everyone has their phones out with their cameras open. What?
"Hey, why does everyone have their cameras out?" I ask a random girl from the crowd.
"That's fucking five sauce!" The girl replies to me, screaming and pointing to the middle of the crowd.
"'Five sauce'?" I ask, clearly confused.
"You know, 5 Seconds Of Summer?" She replies to me, attitude prominent in her voice.
"Wha- Oh! They're the band I was listening to in the car!"
The girl rolls her eyes at me and returns to fangirling. I'm getting shoved by a large amount of screaming girls and I begin to get claustrophobic. I can't breathe. I'm having a panic attack. Oh my god. I start wheezing and try to push through the crowd of screaming girls. I start to get tunnel vision and begin to only see black. I fall backwards, but before I hit the ground, I feel something catch me.
