Chapter 6: Superheroes & Sidekicks

Danielle’s POV

A strong feeling of regret crept its way up my stomach, a little too fast actually, and I felt like I was going to be sick. Until, realisation hit me and what was occurring around me. I observed as Rita’s lips were pursed together tightly, and her face was flashing a deep shade of red and her breathing was extremely shallow along with one eye twitching ever so slightly, she looked as if she was going to blow her top, this wasn’t going to go down well.

“You are under arrest; you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to be speaking to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense." An out sized man clearly stated, as his beady eyes gawked down at the hand cuffs, my mouth dropped ever so slightly, and I swallowed a huge lump that was fenced deep in my throat, and I heard the clicks of hand cuffs that seemed to echo in my ears endlessly.

My eyes met Rita’s, as she closed them down into tiny slips, and her frown deepened whilst her ruffled hair blew ubiquitously as the three other policemen stuffed her inside a small police car. What the fuck had I done? And of course, more significantly, what in god’s name just happened? I began to bite my lip impatiently as Damon and I watched the car prepare to glide away.

The boys were pacing around restlessly, along with the crew, and a few other policemen, some who were talking to the police, and most of them with their phones pressed to their ears; apparently this was already all over the news.

I flew my head round, and I stared as Damon’s jaw tensed, refusing to make eye contact with me. I blew out a shaky breath, my mouth was incredibly dry, and I felt the colour instantly drain from my face, the feeling of Damon refusing to even look at me, made me feel disgusting. I opened my mouth slightly before I spoke. “Damon, please don’t be angry...I...” I began to explain, he shook his head leisurely.

“You do realise, she’s going to court right. Not even that, she’s going to be fucking questioned, and we’ll probably have to spoken to as well.” He screamed underneath his breath, attempting to not let anyone hear him, he rolled his eyes, as my lip quivered.

“Well it’s not like she’s going to prison...” I whispered as my eyebrows inter weaved with each other, I placed my hand on his shoulder, but he slapped it away before I could touch him.

“Damon, please.” I rambled. “Please, the other two boys saw me, and I would have been in more trouble, more than Rita is right now.” I swept a strand of hair behind my ear. “I’m sorry, I wish I wouldn’t have done what I did.” I pleaded.

“Danielle. That’s not the point. You made one of your friends take this one for you, when you should of yourself.” He replied, without hesitation, he swirled around and began to amble inside, leaving me to stand around the hurrying and busy commotion.

“I know, I know, I just coul-“I quietly hissed, as I chased after him. “This was your fault; you dared me to do this.” I blurted out. He turned round abruptly and his frown extended and he squinted his eyes.

“No, Danielle, this is your fault, thanks to you, I will be doing everything I can to get her out of this mess,  which probably means that the Ralph Lauren cardigan that has been calling me, will no longer ever have the possibility of being owned by me. You shouldn’t of messed about when you got inside the house, otherwise we wouldn’t be here right now. I love you, to the moon and back, but sometimes, you just need to know how to treat your friends, and you need to understand that everything isn’t about you.” He roared back as he sluggishly shook his head and continued to stroll along.
