A/N: The reader is female in this oneshot
It's been around a year since Yamamoto has been apart of the Nekoma Volleyball team and one thing was always on his mind. Not volleyball. Not his mohawk and definitely not Kenma who usually fires him up without actually doing anything.
But a girl.
But not just any girl.
Her name was (F/N) (L/N).(F/N) was just your usual ordinary high school student with average grades and average attendance so the entire team was confused by Yamamoto's motives to make her the Nekoma volleyball manager.
"Okay fine. Tell me." Kuroo finally confronted the mohawk with his intentions in the club room while everyone was getting ready for practice. "Why her in particular?"
"Isn't that obvious!?! She's hella cute!"
...
"That's it?" Kenma, who was sitting on the floor, crossed legged, looked up from his POP console and gave him a judgemental look while Lev on the other hand was questioning his decision of using the word "hella."
"Well...No of course not. I heard she's apart of the calligraphy club."
"...So?"
"She might be good at analysing data and other manager stuff." Yamamoto said excitedly while everyone else gave him a bored expression.
"How is calligraphy and analysing linked to each other in anyway?" Kuroo mentioned with a straight face as he changed into his jersey. "Besides you said it yourself, she's apart of another club, how are you gonna make her join?"
Yamamoto held his chin in pride. " I have my charm."
The team gave him the most perplexed expression known to man and sighed simultaneously. Kenma went back to his game as if he was completely done with the conversation altogether while the rest of team just hoped that their ace would not end up kidnapping the poor girl.

"No."
"C'mon. You can't say that before trying." Yamamoto sulked at the (H/C)- hair coloured girl who was on her way to the calligraphy room since she was already late but another obstacle stopped her and it's wasn't tardiness this time. Surprisingly, it wasn't the first time he's stopped you. Throughout the entire week, he's been asking you the same question; will you be our manager? You were actually concerned that he knew your timetable so well.
"Are you deaf? I said No a hundred times now. I'm already devoted to the calligraphy club." You said to him, hoping he finally got the answer clear.
The mohawk snickered. "Says the one who's late."
"I'M ONLY LATE CUZ YOU STOPPED -" You shook your head, thinking you shouldn't waste your energy on this stranger. " I have no time for this." You began to walk away but Yamamoto soon ran in front of you and held onto your shoulders gently and rest his forehead on to yours.
"Just come watch us play at the gym. Just for a few minutes and if you're not interested, then I won't ask you again."
You gazed away from his dedicated eyes. " Why do you want me to join? There are people who aren't in clubs yet."
The male stepped back and spun around before striking a prideful pose. " It's obvious...You're really cute."You blushed horrendously. "What does that mean?"
Yamamoto smiled and ruffled your hair before walking away
"Exactly what I meant... I'll be expecting you." You watched him walk away, not knowing what to do, but you'd never admit it that you kind of looked forward to it.______________________________________
It was 5:30pm and you still haven't shown up to the boys' practice even though it was ending soon. Yamamoto was distracted throughout as he kept missing his spikes and receives, making everyone else get agitated. Kenma even began to raise his voice which was a pure sight itself.
"Are you seriously still thinking about that girl?" Yaku spoke out while the team was taking a break.
"I don't know. I just can't get her out of my head. I just want her to be our manager." Yamamoto began spinning the volleyball on his finger.
"Are you sure about that?" Kuroo questioned, drinking some water. "To me, it seems there's another reason."
Yamamoto held the ball woth both his hands and tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Ooo Yamamoto-san is in love!" The first years cheered as Yamamoto became flustered quickly.
"Love? No no no I'm not in love with her."
"Oh c'mon its obvious. You always talk to her and try to get her attention." Inouka said, smiling giddly.
"And don't forget that you whispered her name that one time while you were taking a nap." Kenma caually added, not looking up from his phone.
"That was one time?"
"By one, do you mean seven?"
"Seriously, seven?" The volleyball team looked up and towards the door where they saw you standing, lending against the door frame. "I would say I'm flattered but I kind of want to witness that myself."
Yamamoto was having a mental breakdown. The one time Kenma randomly talks and you happened to hear it. You walked towards him without breaking eye contact.
"So are you gonna show me some volleyball or should I just leave." You laughed. Yamamoto gazed at you in a confused manner.
"Huh?"
"What do you mean by 'huh?' You were the one who stalked me all week for this moment happening right now."You raised your eyebrow at him.
"...I wasn't stalking you." You heard him mumble, making you smile and watch a confident grin grow on his face before, turning towards the bedhead.
"Can we?" Kuroo rubbed his chin before giving his teammate a smirk and a nod.
"Let's go everyone. Let's show everyone that Nekoma Volleyball team is worthy of a manager." The team cheered and walked towards the court while Yamamoto led you to the sidelines so you can spectate before placing a sweet kiss on your knuckles.
As he ran back his team, you quietly thought to yourself.
"Maybe being apart of this team isn't a bad idea."
