Calum's POV
Me and the rest of these people were practically sprinting down these stairs. Doing soccer throughout highschool really helps me with my running abilities. But I never thought I'd ever have to run down 20 flights of stairs.I sit down to catch my breath and calm down. After a minute a young girl sits next to me.
"I can't do this." She pants and cries. "I'm too fat to run down these stairs."
"Hey don't say that about yourself. You can do this. You just have to push yourself." I said, I hate it when people feel that way. Alicia went through it and it broke me to see the way she felt about herself.
"It's not easy." She said sadly.
"I know, but we can do this. Come on." I stood up and took her hand.
She stood up and we started running back down the stairs.
"What's your name?" I ask her.
"Chelsea." She said.
"I'm Calum." I said.
"Nice to meet you Calum." She said.
"Nice to meet you too Chelsea." I said.
"Can you distract me or something, like I'll ask you questions. I'm on the verge of freaking out right now and I don't know what to do." She started crying.
"Okay ask me anything, don't cry." I said.
"What do you do, what's your job?" She asks.
"Well I was here for a promotion to be a design technician. And I'm in a band." I said.
"What band are you in?" She asks.
"5 seconds of summer, we aren't very well known." I said.
"Wait, do you sing that one song where it's like 'my American apperell underwear' because my friend always sings it, and she really likes your band." Chelsea seemed to get a little excited.
"Yeah, actually we do sing that. I guess you could say the song blew up. But as a band we didn't." I said.
A small smile appeared on my face at the thought of the fans and the band. I'm really living my best life.
"That's really cool, I like that song a bit." She said.
"Thank you." I said.
We then ran down the stairs faster and faster and I guess we made some progress.
After a long time we were on the 5th floor. We all looked out the window for a second. People were jumping out of the south tower.
"Why are people jumping out?!" A woman cries.
I didn't say anything. This was devastating. They lost hope so they jumped. And then a big rumble came and everyone ran to the window and screamed.
The south tower collapsed.
"We have to go! This one is gonna fall too!" We ran down the stairs faster than ever and everyone was screaming.
This was going to be the end, but we can't let it be. We need to get out. I need to do this for Mali, my parents, my best mates, and Alicia. That's my most important motivation to keep going.
It was 10:27 and we made it to the main lobby. We sprinted to the door, and there was the rumble. The tower was collapsing. Chelsea tripped and she got up quickly. It felt like slow motion, we were fighting to get out. We were next to a window.
We're not gonna make it.
I basically tackled Chelsea and we were underneath a large desk, it would most likely hold up good. I hope. I was holding her underneath me to protect her as we both screamed.
"I LOVE YOU ALICIA MARIE MITCHELL" I screamed and everything went black.
We were so close. We were right there. We could have made it. I could have spent the rest of my life with her, we could have had the happiest life. And some airplane had to crash into this building and kill so many people and ruin so many futures. So many lives. And the people in those planes, those families.
This was the end.
