I turn to last page of Carson's diary. I close it softly as I sit back with a sigh.
"Rough day?" Hazel teases as she hugs the diver seat.
I laugh lightly. "You could say that."
We were at gas station. Sage and James were getting food. We had been traveling for hours, all Carson left for a location was: Go north. And I didn't know why.
"They're taking there time, aren't they?"
I shrug. "We're not in a rush."
Hazel laughs and sits back. "Yeah, I guess your right."
Sage and James were walking toward the car. James was driving, I was at the back with Hazel.
"What took you so long?"
James held something in hand. He looked at me and handed it over slowly.
"We know where they are." James smiles.
I send him a weird look and I open it up.
"That's not far." I say.
"Not at all." James replies. "We better get a move on."
"Wait." I say. "Where did you get this?"
"The lady in there." Sage points into the shop. "James asked."
"Why would you ask that?" Hazel groans.
"Why are you complaining? We just found where they are."
Hazel scoffs. "Ethan, what do you think?"
I shrug. "It's worth a shot isn't it?" I ask. "It's a risk, but, we should take them. Right?"
"Yeah... I guess." she answers.
Sage teases Hazel with a laugh. "Alright." He breathes. "Lets do it."
James starts the car and we head off. He played music loudly. Sage sung a long horribly, while Hazel begged him to stop. And I had felt so free from everything. My life wasn't boring anymore. I was finally living.
I open Carson's diary and I flick to the last page. I realize that this is the only thing I have left of her. I had my board, but, this was so much different. She put all her thoughts into this. Her deepest and darkest thoughts. And I had reached the end, which had sadden me.
