Sams POV
My heart breaks for the girl in my husbands arms. I wonder what she has been through in the last few weeks. My nurse instincts kick in. She said she doesn't want to talk about the rest. I access her a little more while silent tears roll over her face. I am considering taking her to a doctor to get a check up but maybe it can wait a little because I don't want to overwhelm her. But it's definitely on top of my concerns.
We have been sometime on the floor and my knees start to hurt. I hope Julian's knee is not hurting too bad, however, we should get up from the hard wood floor. "What do you guys think about getting up from the floor?" I see Melly nod her head and she moves away from Julian and we all start to get up. "How about we show you our guest room. That's were you can stay and leave your things. The room even has its own bathroom."
Julian tries to get up but I can see that he is struggling a little but finally gets up with the help of the sofa. Melly doesn't seem to notice the discomfort or chooses not to speak up about it. She moves to pick up her bag pack.Julian's POV
Fuck my left knee hurts the injury from last season is still bothering me a little. For now I just have to put it to the back of my mind. "Let me take your bag. It looks rather heavy." I take the bag from her hands realizing it isn't heavy at all. Leading the way up the stairs, the girls follow me.
"So as you can read the left door here is Lily's room. And our guest room is here to the right. Our room is the one straight ahead. The other door to the left is just storage." I open the door to our guest room and walk in. I put the bag down by the bed. Sam enters last and opens the door to the bathroom. "Here is the bathroom. It's fully stocked but if you need anything else we can do a trip to the mall later on." Sam has always shopping on her mind. "Hey Mr. Edelman! Don't you roll you eyes about a thing I say!" Ups caught in the act. "Sorry honey!" "You better be or you can go shopping!" "Nah I am all good!" "Okay. Melly you just let us know if you need anything. The other door is for the closet. I think that's it for now."
I look at my sixteen year old daughter. She seems totally overwhelmed. She's been quite for some time and just stands next to the door.Melly Pov
Wow this house is so nice. It's a real family home. Lily's door is decorated with colorful letters that spell her name. On the walls in the hall are lots of pictures. I guess they display their families and friends and I think a saw a wedding picture from Julian and Sam. The guest rooms has huge windows where the sun shines through and it's decorated in different shades of grey with wood elements. I never had such a nice room to stay in. Sam and Julian are talking but I can't really focus on it. My mind is more or less telling me I can't stay here. I am not good enough to be a part of their life. I will just be a burden...Julian's Pov
"Melanie... hey you okay?" I move a little closer to her and call her name again not to frighten her. As I am in her line of sight she seems to snap out of her haze and looks down at her shoes again as if they were the most interesting thing. "Sorry what did you say?" Sam is now standing next to me and speaks up. "Melly maybe you would like to freshen up a bit or take a nap? We just leave you be for now. You can unpack a little and we will be downstairs if you need anything. One of us will get Lily as soon as she wakes up and we will be in the playroom or in the backyard. Okay?"
"Yeah a shower sounds good to me. This room is so nice. Thank you for letting me stay here." Sam and I move to the door. "Oh kid that's nothing. Please relax a little. See you later." "Okay. But still thank you." Sam ushers me out and closes the door with a you are welcome honey.
I let out a deep sigh when we reach the kitchen and plop down at the breakfast bar and lay my head into my hands...
