Calum's P.o.V
"I don't want to go Luke!" I whined. "What's the worst that could happen?" Luke asked, playfully poking my stomach. "I could meet people. Or worse, you could," I say. He laughs. "But then you don't have to hang around me and I don't have to be around you. It's a win-win situation," Luke winked. "Sometimes I really hate you," I grumble. "Oh c'mon Cal! Its my birthday, please. You don't even have to drive, Michael will," he bribed. "One condition, we do a cover. The three of us when we get back, no matter what time it is," I retort.
"Deal! Now go change. Michael's going to be here any minute," he said. I rolled my eyes and groaned. He mimcked me until I reached my bedroom. "Idiot," I mumble, changing my clothes. I dressed into black skinny jeans and a blink-182 shirt. I tugged on my maroon beanie and fixed my hair. "You clean up nice Hood," Luke winked. "When is Michael coming?" I ask impatiently. "Why are you so against this?" Luke asks, smiling. "I just don't feel like being around people," I admit. "Poor Cal. Look, I'll make Michael stay and we can do two covers. Better?" he offers.
Since it was his birthday, I didn't want to his mood, so I just went along. I grabbed my phone from the charger and followed Luke out of the unit. Michael wasn't looking at Luke. Which surprised me. Even though they refused to admit it, they have feelings for each other. I noticed a boy in the passenger's seat. "Hey Luke. Who's that?" I asked, pointing at the boy with curly hair that didn't bother to acknowledge we were standing in front of the car.
"Oh, that's Ashton. Michael's friend."
Ashton's P.o.V
"C'mon Ash. Luke's expecting us already," Michael called as I fixed my hair. I poked my head out the doorway. "Oh. The famous Luke Hemmings. I finally get to meet him. I'm so honored," I joke. "You're such a dork," Michael chuckled. "Oh, don't be like that Mikey. You talk about him like all the time. What changed between you two?" I say. "None of your business. Now hurry up," he says. "Now hold on. What makes you think I'm okay with being a third wheel?"
"You aren't going to be a ‘third wheel’ Ash. Luke's friend is going with him," Michael says. I sigh. "Fine. I'm ready. I'm ready," I say. I get in the passenger's seat. Michael gets into the driver's side and sighs. "What?" I ask. "Its just.... Nevermind," he says, driving to Luke's place. We pull up and Michael looks over at me. "What?" I ask, laughing. "Do you could move to the back? I mean, it's Luke's bir- "Okay. I got it. You need me to take the tag along away from you too," I interject. Michael rolls his eyes.
"Weirdo," he mumbles. I open the door and almost hit a tall blonde boy with blue eyes. "Sorry," I say quietly. "Its fine. Hi Michael," he says, totally ignoring me. "Hey Luke. This is my friend Ashton," Michael introduces. "Luke Hemmings. The Luke Hemmings," I start. "Am I in trouble?" he asks. "Only if you hurt my friend. Then you're screwed," I say with a straight face, but then I break into giggles. "I'm just messing with you Hemmings. Michael just doesn't shut up about you," I say. Luke and Michael blush and Luke just gets into the car.
"Guess I'm stuck introducimg myself, huh," a voice says. I turn and see a boy. And not your average boy. I couldn't quite make out his features in the dim light of the street lamp, but he just dressed perfectly. His blink-182 tee and his hi-tops. I smile slightly. "I'm Ashton," I say. "Calum," he replies. We stand in an awkward silence for a few moments. "Ash! Get in the car already?" Michael laughed. He hasn't one drink, yet he already sounded drunk.
We got to the club Luke had wanted to go to, but I recognized it. It was Michael's favorite club. He probably convinced Luke it'd be a nice place to celebrate his birthday. When we got inside, Michael dragged Luke to the dance floor. "Um, y-you wanna go to the bar?" I asked Calum. "I don't drink," Calum said. I simply nod. Calum wandered away from me to be by himself at a table. I decided it was none of my business to bother him, I mean, I didn't even know his last name.
I sat at the bar, ordering the slightest amount of alcohol. I glanced over at Calum, who was being hit on. By..... a boy? Was Calum gay? He was shoving the boy off of him and tried to get away. I make my way over to him and grab his arm. He glances at me, and so does the boy. "Problem?" the boy said over the loud music. "None at all," I say, finally getting Calum away from him. The boy rolls his eyes and walks off. "You wanna get out of here?" I shout. He nods. I pluck Michael off a bar stool, telling him that we were going to catch a taxi back to our unit. He just nods, and I think maybe he's too drunk to drive home.
Then I get a good look at his birthday buddy on the neighboring stool, sober. I lead Calum outside and try my best to flag down a taxi. The driver stopped and quickly kicked us out. "Maybe I should go home. I mean, I've got covers to film and... "Covers? Wait, you sing with Luke and Michael?" I ask with shock. He nods. "Well, then this can be relevant. In case you guys need a drummer, I'm up for grabs. Me and my undiscovered drumming skills," I say. Calum laughs, and its at this moment I take it his features.
Could this boy be any more flawless?
