The next morning, the first thing Lucius was conscious of was the warmth. The warmth of a person smaller than he, whom he was cuddling like a body pillow.

He then smelled mint. Like eucalyptus.

After that, he decided to open his eyes.

The young woman he had his arms wrapped around was facing him, her eyes shut, and she was breathing lightly.

The warm sunlight streaming in through the window made her light brown hair a caramel color, with streaks of gold throughout. Her skin was silken ivory, and she looked like a mourning angel. She was frowning slightly in her sleep, but faded as he lifted a hand and started stroking her hair back from her forehead.

He heard a slight "Mmmm..." And she then wrapped her arms around him, pulling him against her, then proceeded to fall back asleep.

He smiled and soon enough, he was again pulled into unconsciousness by this beautiful woman.

Hermione awoke to warm breath ticking her forehead. Her eyes opened and realized her arms were wrapped around the neck of Lucius Malfoy, the teen. She smiled and buried her head in his neck, inhaling a piney scent, like that of a dense forest. She kissed his neck softly and he shifted beside her, causing her to pull her arms back and admire his face.

At first he didn't open his eyes, but she could tell he was waking up.

"Good morning, darling," He mumbled, voice thick with sleep.

"Hello, beautiful," and he responded, "My hair is perfect, isn't it?"

She laughed and looked at said hair, but was shocked to realize it was only a tiny bit ruffled on one side, surprisingly perfect.

"Yes," She started slowly, "It is...."

He lifted his eyebrows when he suspected there was another part, "But not now," She quickly reached up and ruffled it hard, then proceeded to leap from the bed, he was too shocked to realize what had happened, then quickly recovered, and chased her around the makeshift bedroom.

He had to admit, for being in such a small place, she was surprisingly quick. Too bad he was quicker. He caught her and pinned her to the wall, his arms trapping her.

She froze with wide eyes at their close proximity and the suggestive position.

Just as he suggested, Hermione's mind had gone blank. Her heart was beating unnaturally fast. Faster than when they had been caught by those Snatchers. That feeling returned to the pit of her stomach, that rolling, but all she could see was warm silver, burning silver, and could hardly believe when she reached up and grabbed a fistful of platinum hair, and pulled him towards her, locking their lips. She felt as if her heart was going to burst from her chest at any moment, for it was pounding faster than the beating of a hummingbird's wings.

He responded by pressing her harder into the wall and taking her face in his hands, but before they could go any further, a knock sounded at the door.

Hermione groaned quietly, and Lucius laughed a little.

"Miss Granger? Mister Malfoy? It's Professor McGonagall, I just wanted you to know that your friends are awaiting your arrival in the Great Hall for the funerals.

With the otherworldly distraction in the form of young Lucius Malfoy, she had totally forgotten that they were holding funerals for all of those who died in the War. Her heart felt as if that was weighed down with lead as she walked towards the door, opening it to see a solemn-faced Minerva before her. She handed Hermione a box, "Robes and clothes," she said as an explanation. Hermione gave her thanks and shut the door as McGonagall started down the spiral stone steps.

She set the box on the bed and opened it. Professor McGonagall knew Lucius already had clothes (for that day, they were to go to Hogsmeade later), so Hermione took the khaki pants and gray sweater out and went into the restroom, changing quickly, reemerging after her hair was tamed and teeth brushed.

Lucius had cleaned up while she was in the restroom.

"Ready?" He asked, making her fears stronger. She swallowed them and nodded, taking his hand.

Together, they made their way to the Great Hall, to mourn those who had died.
