World of Color

I am nobody special. A speck lost in a vast world of color. I can be red of both love and bloodshed, blue of both calm and sadness, white of innocence or black of evil. I am never just a single color, nor just a random mix. I am unique, and at the same time, I am not.

In this world, colors can mean many things. Green can mean both willpower as well as greed. Purple can mean the color of royalty or frustration, depending on the shade. Colors come in multiple names as well. One can be "green with envy" or be as "calm as the ocean blue" depending on which color one uses to describe themselves. But to most people, that color can change at the flip of a coin. One could go from a sunny yellow to a blood red fire to a pure cherubic white within a span of a second. Words can change meaning depending on interpretation, this is the same with human emotion. The colors of the world are the emotions all humans share, and they change rapidly depending on their environment physically and or mentally. Sometimes change comes with the power of time, but not everyone is willing to allow time to do so. War, associated with the crimson red of blood and the blackened souls of those deemed evil, is one grand example of this. A war may end, but the bright red fury of those who were involved may never die down, leading to the rise of more wars to replace the last.

The emotions portrayed by color may not always prove to be for the worse. For those with hearts of gold, for those with the fiery orange flames of determination, for those who hold the colors of PRIDE, these colors are as powerful as the individuals who hold them. Since our colors are as strong as the ones who hold them, why must we use them against each other? Why must we revert to the crimson pools that fill deserts with the fading white lights of the fallen? Why must there be people willing to hold a blackened heart for the sake of becoming a living Grim Reaper for those not ready to move on? The answer is simple and unquestioned: we human beings have no real reason, no real justification to harm one another; the few who spread pain merely choose to do so on their own whimsical desires.

Desire, a lustful orange-red shade of material and emotional need, can be a very manipulative mistress donned with silken garments that could entice a succubus. It can lead us towards a path of orange determination with a pure white intention to create blackened chaos with every word spoken. Those who fall for its grace appear to be those who seem devoted to their cause, using any means to achieve and date that tempting desire. It could be in the name of a god that people turn scarlet red with rage at those who denounce the god they worship. It could be for the sake of a better life that they appear dark green with greed at the sight of money. There are even instances where people act merely based on the orange-red desires to use their light-yellow joyful and intellectual nature to manipulate those who are drawn by their personalities. And although orange-red is usually depicted as the cause of black chaos, desire can sometimes lead to better things. It can be the cause for some to hold the pink hearted color of romance and go forth with an orange determination to confess to the one they love. It can be the instigator for someone to use a natural green color as they allow a color of blue wisdom to nurture and improve themselves. It is the cause for many to speak up with dark red courage against what society thinks of certain things. The colors in our emotions can speak so much louder about each and every unique human being, yet at the same time it makes us all the same in comparison to one another.

I am nobody special. A speck lost in a vast world of color. But I am, at least, a speck who understands the power of colors. And now, so are you.

A/N: A tiny gift for those who have been following my ongoing story, World of Unknown Consequence, for sometime now. I apologize for the long wait. Unfortunately, I've hit quite a writer's block in trying to create more content for WoUC, and a few current stressors in my real life have given me no time to really think about what to write next. Until I can get these things under control, I have no choice but to continue this WoUC hiatus. Sorry, and thanks again for reading.
