It's like water that drowns me
The water is cold and unforgiving
Stealing the breath from my lungs
And they scream in response
Internally eroding what's left of me
Until I am a hollowed shell which bobs to the surface
And floats off, lost in the current
Which pulled me down.
It's like a cloud that suffocates me
Gray and stormy, churning and choking
Rain and tears mingle
The cloud fills my body
And pushes me from my mind
I am falling, plummeting to the ground
I can't breathe
I am full of it, devoid of all else
It's like darkness which blinds me
I can't see in front of me or behind me
Not beside me, only inside of me
And in there is darkness too
But darkness with burning uncertainty
Which mirrors that around me
Although with more malevolence
I wear the darkness's burns
Doubt and fear
Surround me
Oh they steal me from the life I want to live
The person I want to be
The person I could've been
I could be
If this left me alone
It's like water that drowns me
The water is cold and unforgiving
Stealing the breath from my lungs
And they scream in response
Internally eroding what's left of me
Until I am a hollowed shell which bobs to the surface
And floats off, lost in the current
Which pulled me down.
