"Not Long Ago, there was a beautiful kingdom across the horizon and it was called Wyvrentin." Draak huffed, "It was said that the kingdom was heaven-like. They had street markets weekly, equal rights and treaties with almost everyone, including us dragons who lived in the mountains on the outskirts of the kingdom, and the spirits who control the skies at night. Wyvrentin was the most peaceful place in all the nine realms." He turned his head to see if Sirena was still listening. She was drawing rainbows on her rock walls that held her captive all these years. "But soon the kingdom fell into chaos when the king's son Jared, overthrew him." Sirena looked up in a gasp, the story she has heard many times before still shocks her. She inquired, "But why Draak? Why would Jared do that, they were so happy?!" Sirena was intrigued by this, Draak never told her until now. The dark dragon slowly moved his towering head down closer to her and said is a whisper, "Because his dad was making Jared marry a girl to keep the peace when he wanted to marry his servant boyfriend. Since Jared rejected the marrige request, the other kingdom attacked Wyvretin. They have been at war up until the last few months." Sirena nodded her head softly. "I understand. Hey Draak, if I wanted to mate with a dragon who looked like me, would you let me?" Sirena asked. Draak hesitated, ever since the king of Wyvrentin handed her over to him, once the war had started, he never had the guts to tell her that she wasn't a dragon. "Yes Sirena, I want you to be happy, be with whoever you want." She smiled. Draak continued, "Before the war started the King and Queen had another child, a little girl, but they decided to give her up to a dragon so she could be protected during the war. They didn't even get to name her." Sirena looked slightly sad, but she kept on drawing rainbows. "Now Sirena, you need to sleep. You have a big day tomorrow. It's your 16th birthday, and you get to leave the cave." Draak said happily. She smiled and got ready for bed, getting even more hopeful for tomorrow.
