Lost My Way
Lost, but my path is clear,
maybe not in my head, but I keep walking.
Not knowing where I'm heading,
but I keep going.
A heavy feeling,
it's the dirty laundry I carry with me,
everywhere I go.
No one shall know, no one will care,
I keep my mouth shut,
I keep my head up,
I keep a smile on my face,
but it's all a facade.
My eyes well up, why am I crying?
I stumbled through the forest,
following the path called "life".
There's a lake in front of me,
I look at my "reflection",
but, it's not me.
I sat by the lake.
The sky darkened, the air chilled.
A heavy feeling surrounded me,
my body goes numb,
but I feel alive.
A voice called out to me,
it whispered gently into my ear,
I looked around,
but, no one is there.
It tells me to "come closer",
the voice is coming from the lake.
I slowly walked towards the edge.
and I look in,
but I don't see a reflection.
A scene plays before my eyes,
it is my childhood, my happier days.
I felt warm, I felt alive, I felt at home once again.
"Come, you will find your answer here, you will find your purpose here, you will feel alive here."
My body moves, all on it's own.
I didn't resist,
as cold wetness devoured me.
"You're home now"
I can't breathe..
but I didn't care..
"It is over my dear, welcome to the lake named 'death'"
